I have yet to start a hike (with or without cache hunt) in the rain. I have finished a few even one with thunder and lightning. But like the conversation that I had with Pez after a Dec breakfast meeting.

Pez: You going on the geocache hunt after breakfast.
Me: Its raining.
Pez: What does a real gecacher say?
Me: The geocache will still be there when it's not raining!
Pez gets a strange look on his face.
