Saturday's Exciting Shooting Gallery...
Ok here it goes.
I go to the groomer to pick up the dogs Saturday afternnon. As I get out of the car I hear gun shots. Several of them. And they sound like they are coming from behind the groomer's on Atlanta Highway. So I go inside to find out what's going on. The neighbor kid comes running in hollering that someone is shooting and it's getting closer. My groomer calls 911.
Then another neighbor come running in and asks to use the phone because of the gunshots.
About 15 minutes later I get talked into calling 911. I spoke to the operator in a calm voice and she tells me that this is the 3rd call about the same thing. I let her know I knew that, but I thought she might want to talk to someone who wasn't panicing. She did appreciate that. Just then Hall Counties finest shows up and I let her know. The groomer's husband and the freakin' out kid descends on the officer. Going off left and right. I thought it best to back off for the time being until I got a sign from the officer that he needed bailing out...So I waited for him to return and I spoke to him then. he seemed grateful to not have to deal with the raging lunatic rednecks for the moment.
Basically it was neighbor folk having target practice. Shooting into a gully at some targets. They weren't breaking the law, they were facing away from the businesses and they were allowed to continue, but they chose to shut it down.
I told the officer thanks, and I appreciated his time and effort. I put my dogs in the car and let the officer deal with the rednecks. And I went home.
