I tackled my front steps. A couple years ago I redid my front steps.
MAY 2004 APRIL 2007(after the stairs painted)
I installed the risers, Posts, bannister caps and of course the copper tops on the posts (which you can't see). Since then I latticed under the stairs and Removed the pine tree. I am heart sick about it. It died this fall/winter. Pine Beetles. Bastards. I loved that tree. I had AL the Landscaper come out and remove it and he took a pine tree from Lyons back yard and put it in the dead pines place. It was more pitiful than Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree. Well, It has died as well. So I have instructed Al to put a large crepe Myrtle in it's place and call it a day. He has also damaged the bushes close to the windows so much while trimming them that I don't think they will ever recover. Now the bed in the front has become a Jungle and I don't have the look I had intended anymore.
The steps as well had become weather worn over time, and it definitely demanded some attention. So this weekend I decided to start cleaning up the front of the house. Saturday I got up and took the girls to the spa and then came home to dig right in. I started up the mower and mowed the front and back. I then put the de-thatching attachment on the mower and de-thatched the front yard. I then trimmed and then used the blower to clean off the pavement.
I then got out the sander and preceeded to sand the front steps. That took a whole lot longer than I thought it would. I washed off my mess and then moved on to the next project. Staring at the mailbox area. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet. but staring helps me come up with some ideas sometimes. Nope. Not today.
I went and picked up the girls. They were So Beautiful. Lucy looks funny when she gets shaved. And Dollie is sooooo Fluffy.
And that was pretty much all I can remember. I know I did more, I just can't think of it right now. I did catch up with Rose. I hadn't talked with for a while. Movie Night on Friday. yay. Then I talked to Lisa. I mineral oiled the cutting board and butcherblock counter top. And cleaned off the table in the kitchen.
Sunday...
I tackled the front of the house. I painted the steps, railing and the front door trim. It took me most of the day. But I completed it. And it looks so much better. Not so much Ghetto. Next I need to put flowers in the planter/pots. Then I need to tackle the front mail box area. I have no idea what to do. I would like to paint it all out and put flowers in it, but the dogs pee all over them and kill them. So I'm not sure if it's worth it.
I just have to do something. Here is a list of all that needs to be done in the front to bring it up to speed.
mail box area
front bed
side bed (on lyon's side)
paint shutters
walkway to the back yard (on jody's side)
enlarge the service porch
pressure wash the driveway
clean up the dwarf gardenias by the garage doors.
new Tree in front bed
Mulch both beds in front
Not a big list. Not anything major. Most can be tackled on a weekend. It's just having a weekend to spare and the energy.
