A taste of Gotham [open]

If the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, the way to a city's must be through its cuisine. At least, that's Alex's excuse.

This morning he finally, finally finished unpacking, where unpacking really means meticulously selecting, ordering, shipping to a P.O. box, picking up from the post office, unwrapping, and repacking everything he might need in a haphazard manner befitting the college atmosphere of his new West Harlow studio, just off Gotham University campus. Comparatively, moving in and unpacking had been easy, but the whole mess was quite sufficient to work up an appetite. Alex is hungry. (In other breaking news, fire is hot, water is wet, and the sky is in fact blue.)

Luckily, Gotham has no scarcity of dining options. He starts at the bottom, fast food joints and little out-of-the-way places, and works his way to sit-down restaurants. He'll go from Denny's to Dorsia in due time, but today is just the first of many runs. Many, er, long runs. Oft has Alex's stomach been likened to a black hole.

Clad in his favorite leather jacket and well-tailored jeans, the young con cruises Gotham's dining circuit in search of good food, good company, and whatever useful information he can glean. It's time to get to know this city at ground-level.
