Australian Business Number and Business Icon QLD 2008

Apr 30, 2008 00:07

I now have an ABN, effective from June 1st, and will be publicised then.

In other news, I hope I do well! Just got my application in (thanks greenglowgrrl!) and I'm really nervous. My answers to the questions are under the cut below(for keepsake really). $5000 prize would be a sweet 21st bonus!

Work tomorrow. Then doing assignment all night tomorrow night before I hand it in Thursday. Also actually did 3 hours on my marketing assignment today. YES that's a big thing for me, okay? All you uni kids can shush for now.

Anyhoo, goodnight all. I'm tired.

P.S. Hope you had a great birthday today, white_land. I don't care if you haven't written for nearly a year; you still get a mention.

P.P.S. Did I tell you that I have the Law and Order theme song as my morning alarm on my phone? Mario theme is still my incoming call ringtone though. Love.

2008 QLD Business Icon™ Competition Entry Form

These questions are intended to give you the opportunity to showcase your unique personality.

We will be looking for responses that “Stand Out” and give us a clear view of why you should be a contestant in Business Icon Queensland 2008.

What do you feel are the three most important qualities that the Business Icon™ Qld 2008 should possess and why?

An icon is a form of inspiration for others. It is important that they possess the following three qualities:

- Drive to succeed with constant improvement. These people constantly monitor standards, evaluate results and move on with the next rung in the ladder in sight. This is the person who states after a great day, "Wow! That was fun! What's next and how can we do better?"

- Integrity. More often than not, failure comes through the weaknesses that can be "white lies" or covering ourselves in order to appear more than we are. This can prove very dangerous in life and must be avoided at all costs. To put it another way, honesty and ethical dealings is vital for one to be successful and respected.

- Understanding that learning is a life skill. This relates back to my first point, that success is constant improvement, however understanding the power of education means never stopping to think one knows everything. Keeping an open mind to everyone you meet is important in business because not only can they become a client or partner, they can teach you invaluable life skills. Even superheroes learn a valuable lesson by the end of the film!

What do you believe is:

a) Your greatest strength, and how will it help you to become the Business Icon™ Qld of 2008?

Determination and perseverance. When projects have fallen short of expectation in the past I have continued my high standards despite such efforts being viewed as useless. This is going to help me exploit the Business Icon program for what it is, learn from it and become the Business Icon Qld.

Business is not about plain-sailing and there is no success if you are only able to float through profitable times. When people succeed they possess the determination to continue serving others through thick and thin to the best of their abilities. I am this person.

b) Your greatest weakness, and how will you overcome it to become the Business Icon™ Qld of 2008?

If there were an aspect of my character which would sabotage my strengths it would be low self-confidence. Many people have this problem; however, and I feel that I am still learning ways to best manage and overcome this in order to succeed. Other strengths of character can arise from weaknesses and I believe that in my case I embody loyalty, conscientiousness and goodwill. I realise also that I have the support of my peers, family and colleagues and this is something I would not be able to get by without.

Success means constant improvement. You are only as good as your last job and I am always looking to improve my abilities. This is what becoming the Business Icon of QLD will do for me.
