Cupcakes and a new toy
Birthdays can be fun! I took Monday off, since I couldn't take off my actual birthday on Tuesday (why was I spending my time in yucky meetings?), and J and I got to go out for lunch and get a few things done without the kids, so that was good. And then on my birthday, I got no cooking and fancy cupcakes from Cake Dreams, which I had seen but never gone into. Apparently, they are Cupcake Wars veterans. The cupcakes are quite good, but oh so expensive!
I got some fun cards and gifts from my parents and in-laws (although where I am going to where the ruffled sparkly shirt, I am not entirely sure!). And for my big present, the kids gave me an empty cover for a brand new Nook tablet which arrived today! The kids are already entirely consumed and want the Angry Birds app, like now. I have never played Angry Birds, so I have no idea what the attraction is, but I'm sure I will find out soon. I am pretty happy and I was totally surprised by my new toy. I have already bookmarked LJ on it, so one important thing is done. And now, I will use this new toy to enjoy the last year of my 30s. God, when did I get so old? Jillian was happily telling me that next year, I'll be 40! Whoopee! Thanks for the reminder, kiddo. I need to go lay down now.
