Milla was lying back on a blanket lain out under a tree by the stream, her eyes closed and a smile on her face.
"Good morning, darling."
She didn't even need to open her eyes to know who it was. She gestured with her hand to the blanket and the basket filled with food on it. She seemed relaxed.
Death touched down, folding up her umbrella and putting it away. She sat down next to Milla, setting the pie down next to the basket, and lay down with the other woman.
"it is, isn't it?"
She sighs happily, closing her eyes and tilting her head back.
"When you close your eyes, it's easy to pretend that's a sun."
"Look at me, hon, and tell me I don't come from somewhere there aren't many colors."
She intertwines her fingers with Milla's, holding them up so she can see, her white fingers with black nails crisscrossing Milla's caramel colored fingers.
"I suppose it's not a novelty, not like... this place. I was on earth, frequently, I saw color, I saw the world... Every inch of it, like something I'd always known."
She props herself up, looking at Milla almost reverently.
"It's been a very... very long time since I've met someone entirely new, though...
Milla winked, still smiling. "And we love you too. A lot of people put up a fuss about it, but I don't think we'd know what to do with ourselves if we had immortality."
"I find that the less time I have the more I appreciate what I experience."
Milla smiled, kissing back and draping one arm around Didi's neck. She let out a soft 'mmmm' of approval, tilting her head to give Didi's hand more room.
Didi let her hand wander just a little bit, humming with equal parts curiosity and pleasure, before it settled behind her back, holding the other woman close.
"I've tasted it before, but eating with a body is... something different entirely. A lot of things feel... different, like this. Better."
There's a trace of real wonder, almost childish in her expression for a moment, and a small pink tongue flicks out over her lips.
Milla purred softly, scooching closer and letting Didi hold her. "I like the sound of that, darling." She gently played with Didi's hair, resting her forehead against her neck.
"Good morning, darling."

She took a deep breath, content and tranquil.
"You can imagine it's home."
Reply
"It's nice to see the sun on your face, too."
She smiled, and looked back up at the dome of the false sky.
"My home was very different from this. I always feel so alien here. There's so many shades of grey, so many colors..."
She closes her eyes, and sighs happily.
"I love it all."

She raised one hand, offering it to Didi. Just a little gesture of affection.

It's an incredible feeling."

"Welcome to humanity, darling. Everything is new at some point, and with shorter lives, we have a chance to savor that feeling."
Reply
"And that.. is why I'll always love humanity. "

"There's less beauty in a thing that never changes."
"I will always love the fleeting, and the new, and find in that perfection."
She ran one finger through Milla's long hair, tracing it down her neck, her shoulder.
"Also, I brought dessert. It's blackberry."

She sighed happily at the feeling of Milla's warm body pressed against hers, and pulled herself in as close as she could to the taller woman.
"You'd think of all people I'd know how to be patient. I guess I can blame it partly on the body, what it wants.
Partly."
She slid her hand back up Milla's side, slowly, feeling the soft curve of her, and her heartbeat quickened a little.

"Oh. Privacy, right. I... forgot about that."
She sits up a little, eyeing the food curiously.
"Truth be told, I'm a little bit hungry. What did you bring to eat, Milla?"
