Didi was wandering, and she'd taken her mind with her. It really was a lovely morning in the biodome, and she was enjoying herself, hanging casually from her embrella a few feet from the ground, singing brightly to herself. She thought about the flowers, the trees, she watched the water rush by in the stream, and she touched down in the water, letting it rush by her bare feet.
Cool and wet and slippery and rough on the bottom and sandy gritty between her toes and flashing bright on the surface while her heart beat up faster to compensate for the lost heat and her eyes tried to focus on the warped image in the water, bent like an illusion, a mirage of the world as her feet sank slowly into the soft mud.
She had to shake herself, and pull out of the water again. Didi had the feeling that it'd be a while before she could get used to feeling so many different things at once.
Speaking of which. It was a beautiful day for a picnic. She perked up, floating lazily over a slight hill to land on its crest, looking for a trace of green eyes or pretty auburn hair.
She felt slightly rude for not bringing anything to the picnic. Maybe the two of them would want some dessert afterwards.
Didi made a pie. It was hot on her palm, and it smelled good. Now she was ready.
