Darc watched through narrowed eyes, arms folded firmly over his chest as he observed the other teen's somewhat bizarre display. He had come into contact with clowned individuals more than once, but given that the other was human, and as far as Darc was concerned, was prone to fits of unusual behaviour anyway, he was unsure what to think. Maybe this was completely normal for a human on their birthday? He could well have been drinking alcohol beforehand, like James on his birthday, and Darc knew first hand that that could lead to strange and unusual behaviour. He just continued to regard him in silence, not really sure what to make of the situation...

"Darc, why that face? A frown doesn't suit you at all. What must I do to get a smile out of you, hmm?"

He hopped from the table and approached, the knife still in hand. "Would you like to play another game? Just name it, my dear friend. How can I ON THIS DAY make you smile? What must I do during MY celebration to make you laugh? Would you like me to do a dance? Oh tell me, Great and Mighty Darc, how can this lowly human make you happy? Forget what today means to me, never mind everything I've lost. All. I. Want. Is one LOUSY smile. But no, keep pouting."

His raised voice and angry expression vanished and instead he laughed and tilted his head to the side. "I'm really glad to be your friend. If I was never stolen away I'd never meet such a caring, wonderful person like you, Darc."

Darc blinked a little as the other jumped down from the table, looking both surprised and confused as the other moved towards him. Tamaki both looked and sounded angry, and while he was still fairly uncertain when it came to identifying sarcasm, he suspected that this was an example of it. He remained where he was, though his arms dropped to his sides and his muscles tensed a little just in case the other teen was planning to attack - he was still brandishing a knife, after all, even if he was no match for the half-dragon boy - really unsure of how to react to this sudden change. Particularly because Tamaki must know he wasn't exactly prone to presenting a friendly demeanor...

"...I'm not pouting..." he protested confusedly, just as Tamaki's attitude made another sudden shift back to something that was a little more like himself, though there just seemed to be something wrong about it. Maybe he was intoxicated, after all? ".....you're confusing me...."

"Confusing you? Well allow me to be more clear." He turned to the wall and began to carve with the knife a smiley face. Once it was done, Tamaki stabbed the knife deep into the wall and faced Darc, pulling his own cheeks back for a large smile.

Darc merely continued to look bemused. It was fairly obvious that Tamaki wanted him to smile, but it wasn't an expression he used very often, and right at that moment he wasn't in the mood for it, not when he was being so deeply bemused by what was possibly - though he wasn't sure, he could feel his skin crawling a little now the other was near him, there was something off about this - an intoxicated human. "Have you been drinking alcohol? I know its traditional for humans to drink it on their birthdays, but its poison, and it can make you act kinda strange..."

"No, though I do feel a bit funny." He chuckled, coming closer. "Like the world finally makes sense and I get it, I finally do. The only person I can make happy is me and I'm going to be as happy as I can be. You helped show me that, Darc. You and my new friend. He's such a good friend you know. His voice is like the laughter of children and the giggles of beautiful maidens and they told me everything I needed to know. I'm not home. I'll never be home and I'll never have a true family. You. You have your brother, and still you frown. People who can't appreciate good things shouldn't have them. It's not fair, you know. I could fix it, if you want. The least I could do is give you a reason to brood since it's the only thing you wish to do."

He laughed though. "Just kidding! Oh I could never harm Kharg, he's such a nice fellow. Have you had any of the food yet? It's wonderful."

Tamaki turned and picked up a plate from the floor and scooped up a hunk of the destroyed chicken and put it on top. "Mmm, I saved you the best part."

Darc tensed up for a moment as the other continued to speak; it was taking considerable willpower to stop himself from telling the other he had a lot of reasons to brood, not that he'd expect a silly, spoiled human to understand, but he managed to restrain himself. Something about what the other had just said had struck a chord with him, and his eyes narrowed once again as he carefully observed the slightly older teen. He took no notice of the behaviour with the food - not that he was particularly opposed to eating something that had fallen on the floor anyway, given the way he was kept while he was a slave...he had certainly had worse - and the comment about Kharg wouldn't have phased him anyway, knowing his brother was perfectly capable of taking care of himself. It was the rest that bothered him...

"...what was that about your new friend?"

Tamaki took a bite from the chicken he had gathered, not seeming to notice or care that there was dirt on it and with a full mouth shrugged and said "The one right behind you."

There, towering over Darc was an all white clown with green vines wrapped around him and a wide twisted smile. It bounced up and down and from one foot to the other before offering Darc a heavily throned rose.

Darc turned warily on hearing Tamaki's statement, his muscles visibly tensing up at the sight of the clown. While he had never actually been clowned himself, he had enough run-ins with Asura and people who did have them to know perfectly well what it was. He had spent almost three weeks at the psychonaughts camp F3 trip completely insane, and he had to try hard to repress a shudder when he looked at Tamaki's new 'friend' now...

"I don't think I want that," he itoned in a low, gruff voice when the clown offered him the rose, before glancing over at Tamaki, not letting his 'friend' leave his field of vision, "I don't think that thing is your friend..."

He tossed the food over his shoulder and spat out what was in his mouth. "I am truly offended! How could you say that about the best thing that's every happened to me? Don't tell me you're scared of a little rose, are you?"

For once, the halfbreed's temper didn't flare up in response to the abrupt and abrasive way he was spoken to, given that he was aware of what was happening now, and he continued to speak to the other calmly, still keeping an eye on the clown. "What makes you think this is the best thing that's ever happened to you? And I didn't say I was scared, I just don't think its gonna be a good idea. What's gonna happen to me if I take that?"

"Do you always have to be so difficult?" Tamaki sighed. The Clown's smile twisted into a frown and the rose burst into flames and became ash in seconds.

"We're no longer friends, Darc. You're mean and self centered and I don't have time to spend with people like you."

The clown slipped past Darc, over to Tamaki and wrapped its thorned vine covered arms around Tamaki's shoulders. Even though it tore his beloved uniform Tamaki smiled. "I have a true friend now who's mother and father and all that I need."
