Emmett was sat on the grass under a dead tree. He was absently chewing on some gum and wondering how Ion had been keeping.
Emmett had seen all of the trouble going on from the apartment he'd been staying in and it made him reluctant to venture outside. He was scared silly.
But walking down the street to meet Ion for a picnic was a totally different thing. He trusted Ion and he enjoyed his company - he'd been lonely holed up in his room for the past few days. So he waited, enjoying the slight breeze on his skin, and watched for his friend.
