Komui pranced through the dusty streets in his slippers, not caring about the way his trouser legs were rapidly going from pristine white to a mucky grey. Today was going to be another marvellous day, since he was going to take his darling, beloved, beautiful Robin out for a night of Romance!

It wasn't that Komui didn't enjoy their current relationship, which mostly consisted of doing very enjoyable things while very naked, but there was far more to life and love than just sex. He knew in his heart of hearts that there could be so much more between them, such a deeper connection, and he was determined to wake up the womanly gentleness within Robin's breast with a moonlit stroll through the town. He had wine and a blanket in a bag, so they could drink together on the edge of the desert and watch the stars, laying on their backs and sharing deep, soulful secrets. After that, he planned, he'd lead her back to his room, and once the door was safely locked and the curtains closed, they'd make sweet love until daybreak! He gave a little twirl as he imagined it. They could have breakfast together the next day! They could go shopping for clothes together, or sit by the piano and sing! It was going to be absolutely perfect!

As he drew nearer to the General Store, Komui halted his prancing with a conscious effort and brushed some of the dust off his shins. Robin would probably appreciate it if he was a tad more sober and contained. Even Lenalee, his sweet little Lenalee, sometimes yelled at him for dancing around in public.

However, his effort was undermined when he pushed open the door of the General Store, giving a "Yoohoo!" As he waved wildly at Robin.

Robin had- joy of all joys- found not one, not two, but a lot of bottles of whiskey in this place. She'd immediately shared her findings with Barney, who agreed that some sort of celebration was in order. As it were, she'd ended up knocking back a few shots posed in some scandalous outfit but she'd put on her regular clothes now, taking much care to make sure her shin holster was strapped securely around her calf. For a moment she could almost pretend they were having some sort of weird, historical day at some old school Western rodeo, with the scotch and her gun and things being sort of normal, for a moment. Even if things weren't. At all. She had a glass in her hand now, her whiskey on the rocks like she loved it, when the door opened quite suddenly.

She was halfway out of her chair and had her leg pushed up on the bar stool to unstrap her holster when she realized it was Komui, waving wildly at her. Oh, him. The scrawny tall thing with the shoulders and the okay sex. Not that she was complaining. She took what she could get, and he'd been better this past week. They'd done some dirty things in his bed and the way he called himself Supervisor was quite enough to make her happy. He'd been edgier, and in her buzzed state, she didn't quite realize he was different. Still with the big shoulders. Still the Supervisor. Smiling widely at him, she set her drink on the counter and went toward him, wishing she hadn't changed out of the outfit she'd found. Now that would have been hot. They'd be here all week though, right, she could put it on later. Yea.

"Komui," she said, a bit more happily than normal, the whiskey, after such a long drought, making her more than normal tipsy. "Komui, have you seen this place, it's awesome, right?" She wound her arm over his, looking blindly around to see if Barney was anywhere in the vicinity. He'd said he was going to find the bathroom or something, or maybe he was just... somewhere. Yea. Somewhere. "I'm not pink anymore!"

It seemed she'd started in on the drinking already, if the alcohol on her breath was anything to go by, but Komui didn't mind. She was so cute when she was tipsy! He squeezed her happily and gave her a peck.

"So I see! I'm happy for you, not that the pink didn't look marvellous!" He'd certainly been entranced by the way her glow showed up through that white shirt of hers. It was scandalous in the most interesting of ways. "I've had a look around this place and it's certainly a lot more interesting than our last Facility. Actually, would you like to come out with me and see? I was thinking, we could sit on a blanket with some wine and look at the stars together. Would you like that?" He gave her an expectant smile.

Blanket? Stars? She blinked. Some new codeword for sex? She frowned. He couldn't think of a better codeword? Honestly, Lily and Marshall could come up with something better.

But, there was going to be wine. And the peck on her cheek, and the fact that she had grown quite accustomed to a certain... standard of living (she could come up with codewords too, haha, suck it Lily) was enough to make her agree to the idea. Besides, she hadn't left the store too much yet, and while drinking with Barney was fun and normal and enough, well... standards of living and all that. She was upper class. Barney was just going to have to go it alone for the next couple of hours. Maybe the night. Oh, that might be fun.

"Sure," she said cheerily, warming up to the idea, "let me go and finish my drink!" Untangling her arms she tripped over to the bar, picked up the glass, and downed the rest of the whiskey in one smooth swallow. It left her cheeks feeling warm and her lips slightly tingly. She thanked her dad silently for such a good upbringing, and then shouted, "Barney! I'm leaving! With Komui! I'm going to go and ride a Zamboni!"

That ought to be enough to tell him what they were doing. Barney wasn't stupid. He might be jealous. There was no response, and so she went back to Komui, still feeling flushed and warm, and tangled her arm with his again, smiling up at him. "Come on, Supervisor," she said, in what she hoped was a sultry voice, "let's go see the stars."

Komui was very impressed with the way she drank that whiskey. He was never able to take a sip without coughing slightly, but she drank it like a professional. Ahh, she was marvellous, this future girl.

"A Zamboni? What funny words you've got in the twenty-first century!" Komui exclaimed, squeezing her arm warmly. The slightly drunken sparkle to her eyes and the flush on her cheeks were so easily misread as signs of a yearning infatuation, and Komui responded with his own warm smile and blush. The tone of her voice made him feel tingly warm.

"They're beautiful out there." He said, his own voice lowering into an intimate husk as he led them out the door. "There's so many strange constellations. Did you ever look at the stars as a child? It's the most marvellous feeling, looking at how vast the universe is. I used to sneak out of my window, late at night, and go into the fields to stare. Just me, the stars and a book on astrology. There wasn't a better way to study." They were walking along the streets now, arm in arm, Komui as happy as he could be.

"By the way, you don't have to call me Supervisor. I don't know why I was insisting on that last week. It's not like a little title makes a difference, does it?"

She made some blank agreeing noise as they walked out of the store. Robin blinked in the dying light, casting a look at the eerie Western style town. This was so weird. Half the time she still felt like she was in a dream in this place. First that place with the white walls, and now this desert town and she wasn't waking up. Still so weird. They were walking, arm in arm, down the street now, Komui guiding her along. She was vaguely listening to him, mostly feeling him pushed against her, all nice and warm and heat. He was talking about astrology. It was making her frown; why wasn't he talking about fighting like he had last week, or why wasn't he being more forceful? Any indication of last week's Komui would be enough for her, but all she was feeling was the simpering, puppy-like one from the week prior.

Maybe this wasn't so bad; he did seem like such a nice fellow, after all, and it wasn't like she couldn't fall in love or even like someone after she'd slept with them. Maybe she should try harder to listen to him, than try to get into his pants all the time.

But then again, getting into his pants sounded a lot more interesting than listening to him drone about astrology and his childhood. Man, if he were a chick, Barney would be all over him.

"But I like the way it sounds," she said, spotting an alley and guiding them toward it a bit. "It sounds so... powerful." They were stopped by the alley now, and she turned on him a little suddenly, standing up to put her arms around his neck to drag his mouth down to hers for a kiss.

Komui let out a surprised squeak at the sudden dragging of his neck, but quickly recovered and got into the kiss. Whiskey tasted so much nicer when it was Robin who tasted of it. His arms were quickly around her waist, his bags falling forgotten into the dust, as they embraced in the twilight. The press of her body against his was enough to make his arousal stir, and his hand started slipping lower, keeping her flush against him.

That is, until Komui suddenly remembered that they were in the middle of the street, and just about anyone could be looking out of the windows and watching them act in such a scandalous way. He pulled his head back, not without some difficulty, and leaned his forehead against hers, panting slightly.

"You can call me Supervisor however much you want." He panted. With a groan, he moved his body back from hers, his hands coming to hold onto hers. He gave Robin a warm smile. "This is just a bit too public to kiss like that. Who knows who's watching? There's no need to rush, we've got all night to do those sorts of things. I want tongiht to be special."

See, there he went, getting into it. He was trainable after all. She'd had doubts after this week- it had been better than the week before, at least- but still, trainable was about as best as she could hope for, she guessed. He was pressing her into him, and the combination of the whiskey and the fact that they were, indeed, in a very, very public place was making her want him more and more. She tried to hold onto him, but he was pushing her away then, putting distance between their two bodies.

Okayyy, so he needed to be trained a bit more.

"But we've got right now too," she interjected when he was done speaking, pouting a little, looking up sadly into his eyes. She wanted him and she wanted him now. The fact that they were in a public place was only making it worse. The whiskey was helping. "Tonight is special," she said, after a second of holding onto his hands. "I think we should start it off with a bang."

She resisted the urge to flutter her eyelashes, but she was so going to get a high five for this later.

She just needed to drag him into the alley. Why wasn't he into this? He'd been so into her a few days ago... and now he was back to the mushy gooey guy she'd tried to get rid of? Crap. Maybe she could fix this.

Holding tight to his hands, she tugged until he complied, following her into the alley, leaving his bags where he'd dropped them in the dust. She was sure to keep her sad, puppy eyes turned toward him as she backed him into one of the walls of the alley, reaching on her toes again to drag his lips into a now familiar kiss.

The puppy eyes worked like a charm on Komui, as he found himself completely helpless to resist as she led him into the alley. Her lips were so warm and wanting against his, her body so deliciously pliant as she pressed into him. He couldn't help but kiss her over and over, his hands slipping back around her.

Until he heard a noise outside of the alley. His head shot up, face bright red as he whipped his head round to stutter excuses at whoever it was who'd encountered them. However, the only thing there was a tumbleweed that had been blown into one of the alley walls. He slumped, huffing a sigh of relief.

"Robin, my darling, maybe we should go back to a room. Somewhere with a lock." He said. "What if one of the children walk by? We'd traumatise them!" He wriggled uncomfortably between the wall and her body, thoroughly trapped. "Wouldn't it be more comfortable with a bed?"

He was uncomfortable in this situation, but Robin was not going to be denied. Besides, there was nobody around. And where was her last week's Komui? She had hoped, from the observations, that the drugs would still be in his system, making him.. however he had acted last week. But no, he was stammering and embarrassed and Robin normally would have just stepped off. Followed him back to the room for some tame sex. But there was whiskey in her, and she was excited. After this she could go back to Barney and completely rub it in his face. Some sort of victory.

"Oh, I think they probably need to get used to this," she said, in a low whisper, digging her fingers into his hips to try and keep him in place. "It's a natural part of life, right?" She giggled, cheeks still flushed as she raised a leg to wrap around his hip. It was slightly uncomfortable at the moment, but she could think of all the delicious ways it was going to get a lot better as soon as she manuevered him pants down. She flexed against him, leaning up to try and kiss him again. "This isn't uncomfortable at all," she breathed, in a silky voice. "In fact, I can't think of a way it'd be more comfortable." She needed to their positions reversed, so she lowered her leg and pulled him back with her across the alley, to the opposite wall, so that now it was her pressed against it, him bracketing her against it. This was high risk, but also had the potential to be high reward. He could escape, but it would be easier for him to push her up against the wall this way, which is what she wanted.

"Come on Komui," she said, in what she hoped was a tender, tender voice. "It'll be fun."

He could feel her heat through his underwear. She wanted him, so, so badly, clinging and rubbing and talking in that voice that made Komui want to just throw away all his cares and take. He pressed into her, his fingers gripping her hips as he pulled her higher on her tiptoes, getting a better angle to grind into her. He bent his head to give her a wanting kiss, pressing, suckling, groaning in the back of his throat a he rocked.

And then his fingers brushed against the wooden wall and he was instantly thrown back into reality. He pulled away, his hands flying to the belt of his trousers to do them up over the frankly embarrassing way his underwear was deformed. In public! He panted, pushing his hair out of his face.

"No, Robin." He said firmly. "I said not here. This is degrading to both of us! We're not animals! We can go back to a room. Quickly." He twitched his long uniform coat shut, buttoning it to try hide his flustered state, readjusting his glasses and his beret.

"Don't worry, there's walls in the rooms too." He said, holding out his hand.

At first he seemed like he was following her lead, warming up to her, and that made her excited. She nearly giggled when he rocked against her, though that was cut off by a needy noise. This was going to be awesome. This was way too good to be true. Okay, maybe that was the whiskey talking.

Suddenly he pulled off her, looking red and embarrassed, stammering some excuse. What the hell?! He was talking, saying something about how they weren't animals, and that this was degrading. That was frankly insulting. She'd done it in lots of public places before... just not up against the alley in some old Western town. What was his problem?! How could he be embarrassed?

And suddenly she realized exactly what she was doing and what kind of pathetic thing this was. She was stringing him along to get sex out of him, and he clearly wasn't what she had thought. She was better than that. Than this. This was all kinds of wrong. Maybe not wrong for her usual, but she'd picked the wrong guy to win with for Barney. She had clearly miscalculated, and she'd been dragged into it. Crap. This wasn't going to work. Her cheeks were hot, but not from the whiskey anymore. She had to get rid of him, right now. Or else she'd end up letting him take her upstairs, and they'd sleep together again, and tomorrow would be fine and she'd keep going and that was wrong. Maybe it was the whiskey after all.

But how could she get rid of him? Let him down gently? Right now? If she did that right now she'd look like she was just upset about him not having his dirty way with her up against the wall! Which, she admitted, wasn't too far off base. But that was petty. She could say she had some disease. She was about to die. No, no, he'd probably go into hysterics. Goddamnit, think Barney! What kind of excuses did he make to the women he slept with and then abandoned? Rocket scientist? Heart surgeon? Penguin rescuer? Think Barney.. think Barney..

"I'm in love with Barney," she said, almost hysterically, looking at his hand, outstretched to her, as though to drag her back to some romantic life full of babies. It was horrifying.

Komui stiffened at her words. She didn't- couldn't- no... His eyes widened behind his spectacles as his face sank into a look of horrified shock. His hand was till stiffly outheld.

"Wh- what?" he squeaked out, staring at her in disbelief. "But you.. we... why would you want me to do that, here, right now, if you're in love with him?" It didn't make sense. She was drunk, that had to be it. Too much whiskey and not enough air while kissing. He pulled his hand back, clutching at his jacket over his heart as he swallowed.

"That's just the drink talking." He said, trying to reassure himself, hoping esperately she'd agree. "Come on, Robin, darling, you're just getting confused. I'm sorry I don't want to do this, but there's lots of nice other things we could do! Maybe we should get you a cup of water..."

Oh god. Oh god, this was going all wrong. He looked like he was going to cry. Now normally this would be funny. Normally she'd laugh. But he was so nice and she was drunk and she'd used him and oh god, this was going all wrong. What could she say?

"It's not you-- it's me," she fumbled, looking anywhere but at his face. "We need to talk, I just need to get to know myself, you'll make some girl happy someday, oh god Komui, I'm so sorry." She shoved her hands in her pockets, trying not to look at him or hear the desperation in his voice, and then she started lying. "I've loved him all this time, I-I thought we had something special, but-but we're two different people, very different people from different centuries, and I've loved Barney a-all the time and I was trying to not tell myself that b-but I can't keep doing this to you, when I really love him."

Hey, that actually hadn't come out too bad. She was sort of pleased with herself. One look at his face wiped that feeling away immediately. Oh man.

Komui looked as shocked as if she'd just leant over and stabbed him. In fact, that was rather how it felt. He couldn't breathe. His chest was frozen by the pain. She meant it. Oh, she meant it.

His face contorted, his mouth stretching out into a grimace as his eyes clenched shut. Slowly, his legs buckled under him, unable to bear the weight of the pain, and he keened.

"Why?!" He wailed. "How could you do this to me?! I love you and you do this?!" He began to sob, extravagant, gasping breaths as his eyes and nose streamed. He buried his face into his hand and continued to wail.

She closed her eyes, tried to even her breathing. He was crying. He was sobbing. She felt herself hyperventilating. Stay cool Robin, stay cool. She could totally handle this. But then again, even her girliest guy had never broken down crying in front of her. He was even worse than Ted. He had actually collapsed to the ground. Okay, this was just ridiculous. Goddamnit, if only he'd given in and fucked her against the wall none of this would have happened!

"I'm sorry!" She went to him, kneeling by his fallen form, rubbing his arm awkwardly. "I'm sorry, it's nothing you did, I just can't deny that I love Barney anymore, I've loved him awhile and I thought I loved you but..I'm so sorry, come on, get up. It'll be okay. You'll find someone. I'm not special anyway. I mean, I can't commit, I have a lot of issues, I'm not very romantic, and you're way cooler than I am." Totally not, but she had no problem lying here. "Come on Komui, get up... it's not you, it's me. I can't help the way I feel about Barney, and I'm sorry I dragged you into this."

She sensed she was making it worse, but she couldn't stop talking. "How about a drink?" she finished, brightly.

Her words were doing little to ease him. So what if it was her? He still adored her! Her touch was only making it worse, those small, feminine hands that had done all sorts of exciting things to his body.

When she offered him a drink his head whipped up, a look of hurt on his wet, reddened face. She was smiling as if there was nothing wrong in the world. Was she mocking him? Did she still want that wine? Did she expect him to shrug off his heartbreak and pretend nothing was wrong?

With a piercing wail he stumbled to his feet, running as fast as he could back to his own room. Even losing a slipper along the way didn't slow him down until he finally flung himself face first onto his bed.

Robin stood up when he got up, running back the way he'd come. "Komui!" she shouted, making a move after him. "Komui, wait!" But he was already gone, not even looking back. Robin frowned, biting her lip hard. Goddamnit. It wasn't supposed to be this bad. Couldn't he just take it like a man? Oh well. At least that was done with now. She better go back to the store and fill Barney in on what happened, so he knew what lies to the tell.

There was whiskey there, at least.
