When: Sunday morning in Hope's End

Rating: PG
Warnings: Stubborn teenagers and a little blood
To say Link was surprised when he awoke would be quite the understatement. In his short time held captive he'd grown used to the pristine white walls, and so the sudden change to wooden walls and other strange things (like... furniture) was quite jarring. It took the inspector only a short while to gain his bearings and, after a quick skim over the new observations, determine the new situation.
A new facility. Wonderful.
He made for the door of the room he'd woken up to, taking quick stock of his surroundings and wincing a bit before pressing his uninjured hand carefully to his nose. He had a raging headache and his hand was aching (he must've rolled on it in his sleep), but he did his best to ignore the various nagging pains. It was more important to locate his fellow Black Order members, Walker especially, so that they could take stock of their new situation.
Link sighed and secured the straps of his switchblade (he was grateful for it's return, if nothing else) before opening the door to the room, intending to head out to explore his new surroundings.
Allen flopped on the floor at Link's feet as the door opened and Timcanpy rolled across the floor a little ways as he was dislodged from where he had been sleeping on Allen's head. The exorcist was fast asleep and didn't stir when he hit the floor. The stressful events of the previous week along with being kept awake and only getting a few hours of sleep every night from the glowing had taken it's toll on Allen. He had fallen asleep trying to guard Link's room again after Lavi had left.
Link blinked down at the exorcist at his feet, mildly surprised. It seemed the boy had fallen asleep outside his door, and a grateful feeling spread through the inspector. The previous week had been... trying, in ways that Link could never have predicted, but Allen had been amazingly tolerant throughout all of it. More so than Link could ever imagine he would've been.
Link knelt down beside the exorcist and ran a quick visual inspection for injuries, glad when he found none to be apparent. It seemed the boy was just sleeping in that deep way he had made a habit, and it was with a small shake of his head that Link leaned over to try and lift Allen off the floor, careful of his still injured right hand.
Timcanpy flailed around for a few moments before managing to right himself. His Tiny legs weren't much help as they waved around in the air. Once he was upright again he flew over to Link and took up a new perch on his head leaning forward to observe the inspectors interaction with the sleeping exorcist.
As Link started to lift Allen off the floor his eyes snapped open and he immediately tried to push the person who had a hold of him away. "I swear I'll have your money next week!" He yelled thrashing around in Link's grasp still not quite awake and not realizing what was was going on.
Link spared the golem only a passing glance as it settled on his head. He'd grown used to Timcanpy using him as a perch, and trying to wave the little creature off was usually ineffective anyway.
The inspector backed off a little as Allen began to flail, wanting very much to avoid any further injury to his person. The boy had one hell of a punch when he was awake, and even partially asleep the inspector didn't want anything similar flying towards his already injured face. "Wake up, Walker," he said firmly, prodding Allen in the shoulder.
Allen blinked a couple of times where he was sitting on the floor and stared at Link kneeling next to him with Tim on his head. He had been having a dream about the debt collectors again. "Oh...It's you." He said breathing a sigh of relief before remembering the circumstances of the previous week. Allen looked around the room obviously confused and quickly moved back away from the inspector. "What were you doing and where are we?!" He demanded pointing an accusing finger at Link. He was alarmed that Link had been so close after what had happened not too long ago and he had no idea what was going on.
Link frowned and backed away further, nearly wincing at the memories of the previous week. It wasn't surprising that Allen was wary of him. He'd be doing the same thing were he in the boy's position. "We've been moved to a new facility," he explained calmly, standing from his crouching position and straightening his jacket. "We shouldn't stay here, but I was going to let you sleep." It wouldn't have been the first time he'd carted Allen around.
Allen looked a little surprised and lowered his finger frowning. "I can walk on my own. You should have just woken me up." Allen said getting to his feet. He still felt exhausted and he didn't want to deal with Link at the moment. Without even telling Link what he was thinking Allen marched out the door and into the street. It looked like an western town from a book or something only old. Tim jumped off of the inspector's head and followed Allen out the door hovering by his shoulder as the exorcist took a look around. After a few seconds to take in his surroundings Allen started walking briskly down the street with Tim trailing after him.
Link blinked a few times as he watched Allen head out there door, following after a few moments with a sigh. Everything that had happened during the previous experiment... this week would be difficult to deal with. It was hard enough to keep on Allen's good side even under the best of circumstances.
"Walker, we need to find Supervisor Komui and the other exorcists," he called out to the boy ahead of him, taking in their surroundings with a critical eye.
"Alright I'll look for them by myself!" Allen said feeling more than a little cranky at being woken up so soon. He sighed annoyed with the inspector's usual persistence and started walking faster. Normally it wouldn't bother him quite so much, but for some reason today he just didn't want the man hanging around watching everything he did. He wanted to take a look around the town, find the other exorcists, and take a nap.
"I'm accompanying you, Walker," Link replied, keeping pace behind Allen. It didn't make sense to split up now while in unfamiliar surroundings and with no idea of who or what else might be there with them, even if the inspector wasn't taking his normal orders into consideration... He could understand the boy's reluctance, or course, but that didn't mean he was going to give Allen what he wanted. "It would be unwise to separate now."
Allen made a little annoyed noise and started speeding up a little more. "It would be faster if you went in the other direction. We could cover twice as much ground." He said trying to make a reasonable sounding suggestion. He knew it probably wouldn't work. Having some one watch him all the time was annoying and he knew it would be much easier to get back to sleep if Link wasn't there.
"Not possible, Walker," he said, speeding up as well and hoping that Allen didn't decide to run. He was having a hard enough time breathing properly with his nose as it was. The inspector was in no mood to give chase, but he would if he had to. "We are in unfamiliar territory with no idea of where our allies are. Splitting up now would be foolish."
Before Link could even finish talking Allen ran for it. He darted down the street as fast as he could hoping to lose Link as he turned a corner and between two buildings and kept going. "Just leave me alone!" He yelled. Tim was momentarily left behind and then sped after Allen easily catching up.
Link rolled his eyes, hesitating for only a moment before taking off down the street after Allen. He'd known Allen was tired, but apparently not so tired that he couldn't try to run away like a child. The inspector had hoped the boy would see reason upon waking up in this strange place, but it seemed his behavior had not changed.
He grimaced a bit, frustrated with the exorcist's immature behavior and he drew closer to the boy. This was all very unproductive.
As Allen noticed Link gaining on him he activated his Innocence and jumped up onto the roof of one of the buildings he was between springing nimbly off of the walls. He was tired, but that wouldn't slow him down when he was determined. Timcanpy followed right beside him. After landing on the roof he ran along it back the way he had come and jumped to the next roof. It was a good vantage point and he could see a better lay out fo the town. He and Link probably should have done this from the start to find people. Now it was just about getting away.
Link growled a little, annoyed that Allen would go so far. Really, what was wrong with the boy? As much as he didn't like his situation, wasn't it clear to him that staying together was the more intelligent option. The inspector wasn't any more fond of his assigned duties than Allen was, but it wasn't even about that right now. It was about what was smart. What was sensible.
The inspector turned on his heel and followed Allen from the ground as he ran along the roof tops. "Walker, this is foolish! There's no where to go!" he yelled, and after a few seconds of running he leaped into the air, catching a handhold in the side of one shabby-looking building and vaulting himself onto the roof to continue the chase.
Allen wasn't even sure why he was bothering to run anymore. It didn't really seem like the best idea and Allen really was tired. However he kept running along because he wasn't about to just give in and do what Link told him to. The exorcist was just being stubborn at this point. He looked back to see the inspector jump up on the roof top after him and panicked a little causing himself to trip. Allen fell on his face and rolled a little ways before sliding the rest of the way off of the roof. He was just barely was able to grab onto the edge and stop himself from falling to the ground. Tim fluttered frantically after Allen. The boy hung there a few seconds and then let himself drop to the ground landing on his feet.
Link's eyes narrowed when Allen tripped and fell, breathing a sigh of relief when he saw that the exorcist had been able to catch himself. The last thing they needed was for both of them to get themselves injured. The inspector watched Allen drop before quickly following, landing nimbly on his feet and placing his left hand on the boy's shoulder to stall him.
"Walker, just stop this," he said, sounding tired. "We need to search for the others."
Allen quickly turned kicking at Link. He planned to throw him back a little so that he could start running again. He didn't really want to fight, but if Link was going to insist on coming after him he was going to do something about it. "Let go!" He yelled trying to get away. Tim bobbed up and down as he fluttered over the two of them watching the struggle nervously.
Link threw his arm up to block the kick without thinking, wincing a bit and frowning when it jarred his injured hand. Now this was completely unnecessary. "Walker, stop this foolishness!" he yelled, grabbing at the exorcist's foot, intending to set the boy off-balance. He'd dealt with Allen's stubborness before and he could deal with it again.
Allen fell backwards onto the ground when Link grabbed his foot and then Yanked it away from him. "No way!" Allen yelled jumping from his back to his feet. He figured he would push Link over and run past him. Allen lunged forward and took a swipe at link with his clawed hand. It was bigger and better for batting people away.
Link stumbled back and hit the ground, a startled sound escaping him at the sudden pain that erupted from his chest. He looked down at himself, surprised to see his shirt torn and red lines quickly forming beneath. Not fatal wounds by any means, or even particularly threatening, but the shock of them being there was enough to strike Link speechless. He'd thought Allen's claws had been blunted by the Consortium...
The inspector grabbed at his chest instinctively and glared up at the exorcist.
Allen froze where he was when he felt his claws ripping into Link's chest. He had thought they weren't sharp anymore! They never had been before in his time spent trapped in the facility. He stood there wide eyes for a moment and then deactivated his Innocence and ran over to Link. "I'm sorry Link! I didn't mean to do that! Had I known they were sharp I would have held back!" He said frantically. Allen knelt down beside Link to get a better look at his injury. "We need to find Komui now it's bleeding a lot!" He said looking around to see if any people were near by. He never meant to actually hurt the inspector. He just wanted him to get out of the way.
Link continued to glare up at Allen for a few moments before looking back down at himself and hiding a wince. He was starting to bleed quite a bit and his jacket, vest, and shirt were ruined. This was just... disgraceful.
"Save it, Walker," he said, tone clipped as he started to pull himself to his feet. Now he'd need to find medical supplies and new clothing. "I'm fine."
"You are not fine! Just look at that!" Allen yelled pointing at the injuries he had caused. The blood was starting to run all down the inspector's chest through his clothes. Allen had forgotten just how sharp his claws were. He had gotten use to them being dull and not much good for doing anything more than smacking people. He would have to be careful if he got into any fights this week with any of the other subjects. Allen hoped that he wouldn't, but if his claws were sharp again then other people were bound to have their weapons back to normal too.
Allen jumped to his feet and grabbed Link's arm pulling him up to stand. He was obviously having trouble and Allen knew that if he offered to help him he wouldn't accept it. "We need to get you some help. I really am sorry." Allen said looking at him with concern.
"Calm down, Walker," Link said, tone softening a bit as he let Allen help pull him to his feet. He knew Allen wouldn't do something like this on purpose, so he wouldn't hold a grudge. It just wasn't the boy's way, though he certainly wouldn't be surprised to receive some kind of similar injury from Kanda the next time he saw him. Kanda did hold grudges.
"I'm not dying... I suppose this means your full powers are back?"
"They must be..." he trailed off. If all of his powers were back then maybe he could make a gate. He doubted it but decided he would try it anyways. It could never hurt to try. He closed his eyes and imagined the song in his head. He could feel the block was still there whatever it was and sighed. "It would seem I can still can't make a gate. I don't know if my eye is working all the way either, but there aren't any akuma here so it shouldn't be a problem. Do you have your blades back?" Allen asked. It would make sense if other people had ther weapons returned.
Link had to fight back the urge to chastise Allen about his attempt to make a gate. Regulations or not, it wasn't as if he'd really report the boy for it at this point, in this place. It was just habit now.
"Yes," he replied simply, lifting his right sleeve a bit to reveal the contraption strapped to his arm. While the replacement Al had managed to make was passable, it was quite the relief to have his normal weapons back. They were sturdier and far better balanced. Weapons you could rely on in a fight. "If that's the case then I'd imagine everyone else here has had their powers returned as well," he said returning his hand to his chest to apply some pressure. "We'll have to be careful."
Allen nodded at Link. He was right about that. People having their powers back would probably cause all kinds of fighting just because they wanted to test their strength. If anyone actually did lose their temper and pick a real fight things could get very dangerous quickly. "I hope people don't pick too many fights this week...I think we should go find Komui now. That's not really stopping the bleeding." He said watching Link try to apply pressure to his chest. Allen felt terrible about actually injuring him like that. He would have to try and be nicer to him for a while to make up for it. Now that the adrenaline was wearing off Allen remembered how tired he was so it wasn't like he would be running of more today anyways.
Link glanced down at his chest again with a frown. Allen was right, of course, but the inspector was just annoyed with the situation now. Between Itachi, his own stupidity, and now this, he'd managed to obtain an unacceptable amount of injuries. There weren't even any akuma here to blame them on.
"We'll have to go back to the building we were in to get the laptops," he said, suddenly remembering the device he'd managed to leave behind after checking the observations. "You ran out so quickly that we left them behind."
Allen had completely forgotten about the laptops. That would be the easiest way to get in contact with Komui. "Alright." He said taking a few steps towards the direction they had come from. the he stopped looking back. "Are you alright to walk on your own?" He asked looking at all the blood. "You really don't look so good." Allen frowned concerned. If Link lost too much blood he would pass out and it looked like it hurt to move around as he was. Tim fluttered down from where he had been watching and landed on one of Allen's shoulders.
"I told you, Walker, I'm fine," Link insisted, part of him insulted at the unintentional inference of weakness of his part, and some vague part of him touched at the boy's concern. He really must have looked like quite the mess if Allen was asking questions like that, but the inspector had dealt with much worse in the past. He'd deal with this too.
"Let's just get back," he said, moving back in the direction they'd come and keeping his expression neutral. "We can contact the supervisor then."
Allen sighed at how stubborn Link was being and starting walking back as well. "Fine, but you had better tell him you're injured. If you don't I will." He found himself following the inspector for once which was just wrong as far as he was concerned. However he couldn't really remember where exactly it was that they came from. He had never been the best with finding his way around.
Link rolled his eyes and sighed for what seemed to be the hundredth time since he'd woken up. "Even if I didn't, I think that will become quite obvious once we find him, Walker." Which was true. Annoying as it was, there was certainly no hiding his condition right now...
He'd just have to hope that the effects of the previous test had passed for Komui just as they had for him. The inspector didn't want to have to deal with anymore tantrums.
