And you should definitely meet him! He's good to talk to about stuff that you can't talk to other people about! Um, I guess he might be busy this week, though, because it's kind of crazy everywhere!
[He blinks as he watches the sudden burst of different, frantic text.] Um.
[Confused pause.] Um... No, that's okay! My shadow likes to do that, too. But I think he's okay right now because me talking to you doesn't seem to bother him that much for some reason!

Right! I think we like a lot of the same things! And you're much nicer than the other me I met a while ago! But I think he was evil so... um.
[He nods. He totally understands. For real.] Oh, okay! I think I get it! I don't really like to talk about it a lot, either, but I guess sometimes you have to because dying happens pretty often sometimes. Especially here!

And I don't... think so? I think he was part of the experiments! But he knocked me out and stole my weapons and then I don't really know what he did after that!
[He's quiet for a moment, and it looks like he's about to respond but a voice in the background - his shadow's voice - cuts him off.] It's bad. It's really, really bad! Sometimes they come back but then when things seem okay they're suddenly gone for a while and then you realize that they're never ever ever coming back and that they've left you all alone and they're dead for real. Both of them. Both of them are!
[The actual Deuce doesn't say anything to that, but his breath has hitched and he looks very distressed. Horrified, even.]
