It was his smirk. That boyish, mischievous little smirk he always threw her way whenever they met. That was her first and foremost undoing! No one else looked at her that way, or smiled at her like that. She had long told herself that she was fine with being just the ‘mamma bear’ of the league. Mothering all superheroes was her job, besides, doing research or helping them on the com at missions.
So when HE joined the league, rather reluctant, she had thought that he would just be another member of the league to mother. Boy had she been wrong about that!
The first thing he did whenever he appeared at the clock tower was to throw that smirk at her, and the last thing he always did just before exiting was ask her out. So, it really was no wonder when after a full month of the same repeat everyday she agreed to go out with him.
Yup... it must be the smirk!
