He had been bored and there was nothing better to do than play games with the first female human he could find. Well, there probably was, but not for him. He wasn't really that interested in Smalltalk.
Good point for being a vampire was, that you got whatever you wanted when ever you wanted. You just had to compel the right people.
So he compelled the pretty brunette waitress in the New York cafe-bar. The pretty little thing had brought him his drink with a rather inviting smile. Showing her teeth, batting her eyes at him. How could he have ever resisted such an obvious invitation.
It had been her own undoing. She had in fact thrown the first stone in what was going to be her downfall, her undoing. No one to blame but herself.
They had had their fun in a motel room. And in midden of their passionate activities he had lost control and bitten her. After that a lot of blood sucking, compelling and her death had followed.
He hadn’t really planed on killing her. Only having fun. But it wasn't a really big loss for him. Somewhere a father just lost his daughter, but that really wasn't a big deal. Daughters died everyday in this city.
So he had left her on the bed while going for a shower. After coming back from the shower, he sat on the edge of the bed, and started putting on his clothes. He was about to put on his second shoe when he felt and heard her move.
It startled him so much, that he snapped his head back to her. He saw her hands move first, then her head. And then she slowly and grudgingly got up from the bed, still confused and dazed.
He compelled her then. Asked her who she was and where she was from. It was then that he found out that humans with special abilities were alive, and that she was one of them. It fascinated him to no end to find out that she had the ability to regenerate cells, blessing her with the ability of immortality.
“So you're more like the energizer-bunny. The bunny that goes on and on and on. Interesting!” he chuckled and compelled her to follow him.
That was how he had met her, and that was the night in which he had taken her with him. Ever since Claire had been part of his 'travelling-baggage'.
