For want of a database...

Work has no central database. (Apart from the marketing one, which we producers aren't allowed within shouting distance of, lest we sour their precious precious contacts). This means that, currently, all my contacts are being stored on hundreds of disparate spread sheets, which means that I can never find anyone.

I've tried putting them all onto one master excel sheet, but we're talking about 60k plus names and any time I try to do anything complicated with it, like sort it, it has a hissy fit and crashes.

Is there any kind of free basic database I can build / download that people can recommend? One that can easily import large spreadsheets into it? Because the situation is getting ridiculous.
