Picspam: Good Friday meal

Apr 03, 2015 17:57

Many Catholics fast (only one full meal) or, at least, abstain (no meat), on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday even if they don't during Lent.

I'm pretty much a lapsed Catholic, but today's supper paid tribute to that practice.

Looks fabulous - there's just something so satisfying about shrimp. If you want something that will blow the socks off your guests, go with the large version and skewer them on whole vanilla beana, then cook. I like to serve it with a light white vanilla sauce.

This looks almost too lovely to eat, but I will!

I think I've heard of that. Sounds like a lovely way to flavour the shrimp. I like shrimp a lot too. I had a late lunch (2pm) of this dish and then finished the rest of it at around 8pm. :)

Mmm, that sounds lovely. Perhaps I need to put shrimp on the next for next week.

I had picked up a bag of those large cooked shrimp - 340 gm for $5.99. Not a great price, cause I could eat the whole thing by myself at one sitting, but I thought I'd splurge on Good Friday.

I know. (missing the good old days) I haven't seen orange roughy at the grocery store in years and I'm still annoyed that chicken wings are more expensive than chicken drumsticks or even breasts sometimes.

I think we have orange roughy, but its frozen. Ever sine wings have made it big, in a manner of speaking, they have been so expensive. Go figure!
