Here's a sneak peek of something fun you can do for Halloween. I'll add more pictures to the post as I actually MAKE them, but I wanted to post the recipe first and give people enough time to come up with their own ideas.
Chocolate Taco "Monster" - add 2 scoops of ice cream for the eyes, a couple of maraschino cherries with juice for the bloodshot eye effect, and some chocolate shavings to decorate the plate. For kids, add some green gummy worms on the plate. Unfortunately, I didn't pick up any at Bulk Barn on my last trip there. But YOU'll plan better, I'm sure. :)
Orange is the new black ... actually, how about combining orange and black, or rather chocolate, for Halloween themed treats?
Start with these Chocolate Tacos
RECIPE adaptation: I started with my basic
Florentine (ver 2) recipe and substituted the 3 tbsp of flour with 1 tbsp of flour and 2 tbsp of good quality cocoa powder. I used the large sized florentines, draped them over a large rolling pin while still soft and let them harden.
Since I'm going to have to eat them all myself and they don't last once filled, I didn't go crazy and buy a lot of garnishes but, hopefully, the ideas below may give you a starting point for your own Halloween dessert creation.
Kid Serving Idea:
You can fill the taco with chocolate or orange ice cream, or both, and decorate with Halloween sprinkles/jimmies or gummies. Or, see above.
Adult Serving Idea:
If I had a grown-up Halloween party, I'd fill these tacos with some of the delicious sounding no-bake
pumpkin mousse that Katerina, of "Diethood", used in her icebox cake.
You can, also, roll chocolate 'cigar' shapes around the handle of a wooden spoon or cannoli tubes, dip the ends in melted orange chocolate chips, at this time of year, and then fill them with the same pumpkin mousse.
