All the flailing and anger and what-not is gone. It's a new day. It's a gorgeous new day, and everyone's here to see it. I'm thankful for that.
Miss KT and I went to Trader Joe's after I got home from work yesterday, and proceeded to buy a bunch of cookies, and challah bread with which to make very rich French Toast (which was all
_storyteller_'s fault. *g*). She and I sang the "C Is for Cookie" song a la Marilyn Horne on the drive home, and things were much better. Then we had a dinner of comfort food, and that was that.
The facts are that no matter how much we want to protect our children, we have limited resources for doing so. There are things which are out of our control. My fury-infused fear yesterday was all about helplessness in the face of unnamed danger; it's the desire to fight for my children's safety and having nowhere to go with it. My bottom line is "Don't mess with my kids. Ever."
The good news is that no one was hurt. The other good news is that we all learned a valuable lesson on just how stupid some kids/parents can be. More good news is that the local law enforcement takes their job very, very seriously, and I bless them for that. Even more good news is that my kids are safe for another day.
In the face of all that good news, there is no bad news on the issue.
