tales of oral surgery

Is it sad that having a ridiculously swollen face and no wisdom teeth is the only thing of note in my life right now?

Well, it is. I got my teeth taken out yesterday, and have only a dim memory of my anesthesia being injected through my IV. From then until we went to get my painkillers at Kroger's (I woke up briefly in the pharmacy drive-through, with frozen peas on my face), I have no memory at all. I'm not sure how they got me out of there, as I'm sure I was unconscious. My mom said I didn't stumble like a moron, but I think she's lying.

When I got home I had to change out the gauze in my mouth for a few hours, until the bleeding finally stopped. That was disgusting. Plus, I had to choke down meds every three hours, as I will continue to do for a while. I'm on no less than three medications - Lortabs, gigantic Motrins, and some antibiotic. Frankly, I'm surprised I'm not in some drug-induced coma.

I spent the remainder of yesterday sleeping off my anesthesia, eating Cream of Wheat and milkshakes, and watching movies. My cheeks weren't swollen then, and my gums didn't really hurt either. Overall, I felt better yesterday than today. Go figure.

Really though, it hasn't been that bad. Not fun, but not awful either. I just wish I could eat something crunchy...
