I'm back from vacation! I don't think I saw another tourist under the age of 50 while I was there. Well, that's not true. There were lots of younger people getting drunk on Ocracoke Island. We sat next to a very boisterous guy at a restaurant there (the Jolly Roger, incidentally - I got a T-shirt) who was sharing his underage drinking exploits with his friends, until my mom got fed up and moved us.
Anyway. Did you know that New Bern, North Carolina is the birthplace of Pepsi? And it was the capital of colonial North Carolina, under the royal governors. We toured the reconstructed governor's palace there, with a rather senile old guide, poor woman. (I liked her dress, though.) And is it sad that when I saw the blacksmith's shop I thought of Will Turner?
I went to see the Da Vinci Code today. It was pretty good, but I didn't like some of the changes they made. I did like how they brought some of the arguments for and against the whole affair into the movie - Teabing and Langdon's argument was hilarious. When Teabing told Sophie and Langdon he had three questions for them, I instantly thought of "What is your name? What is your quest?" My mom didn't think it was so funny, though.
I'm going to my grandparent's for Memorial Day tomorrow, and I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled on Tuesday. We stocked up on mooshy foods for me to gum in my agony. I'm looking forward to discovering the differences between chocolate, chocolate fudge, and milk chocolate pudding.
