Does it say, "Gullible" on my forehead?

I come to find out yesterday that the story of the woman meeting Paul Newman is one of these urban legends that has been making the rounds. I couldn't believe it. I thought the woman who related it was refering to a friend of hers!

I am suddenly taken back to my pre-teen years when my father and step mother had this dog they were baby sitting for a few days called Pepper. Dad gave me the leash and told me to go take him for a nice long walk and that his name was Pepper-Schlepper. I totally believed him and everyone who stopped us at the park to pet the dog and asked his name- well, that's what I told them. And those who understood a bissel Yiddish looked at me very strangely indeed. I'll never forget coming home and telling my dad about this and his laugh- he literally threw his head back, held onto his belly and roared with delight. At my expense.

This is the same guy who used to let me sit on the arm rest of the car when he drove, my hands on the wheel, believing I was steering the car. I didn't notice for the longest time that his hands were at the bottom of the steering wheel.
Nor did I figure out until I was almost 14 that the invisible string I was pulling that dangled from the bottom of his rear view mirror was not what was making the horn honk.

Come on, people. It's all about trust. Some of us are actually quite smart but for the fact that we are actually willing to take at face value anything you say! We wouldn't lie; why would you?
Well, why would you?
