Life Update

Had a good, if busy weekend. Saturday was errand day - I brought the car in to have its battery looked at, returned a ton of bottle and cans that had been stacking up, and bought a new dress and flats for a wedding I'm attending this coming weekend (it's been a while since I attended a wedding, and my old flats have kind of fallen apart in the meantime). I really should have done the shoe shopping earlier - my feet are both long and narrow, and I can rarely find a shoe I like that fits. What I wound up with was not my ideal style, but at least they fit (or will with the aid of some heel padding. Unfortunately, the dress is sleeveless, which I didn't think would be an issue given our weather all summer, but naturally the day of the actual wedding the high temp is forecast to be 72 degrees. And possibly rainy. *sigh* Don't get me wrong, I want rain, I just kind of wish it was a different day, is all. I ended the day at Suzanne's birthday party, where the rain (or more accurately, the lightning, since there wasn't that much rain) kept the planned bonfire from happening, but a good time was still had.

Sunday I finally saw TDKR and I enjoyed it. My favorite of the three is still the first one, but I liked it better than TDK (I realize I'm in the minority here). I did think the ending was kind of Hollywood, though.

I've given Audrey three IV fluid doses so far. She's been very good for all of them, which is a relief, but I'm still not completely certain that I'm doing everything right. The fluid is going into the cat, though, which is what matters. It's kind of funny, actually - the fluid kind of hangs there afterwards just under the skin, giving her an odd dangling pouch on the side I did the injection on. It kind of freaked me out the first time I noticed it. I think she looks better after she gets her fluids too, but that may just be me seeing what I want to see.

Work's been kind of crazy - my coworker took two weeks off, and doesn't get back until next week, so naturally lots of things all needed my attention at once. I did manage to resolve a strange problem that was affecting a critical system, so go me! At least the weather's been nice enough for me to ride my bicycle into work again. For a while in July, when we were in the midst of the bad heat wave, the AC in my office wasn't working. Naturally. So even if the 100+ temperatures weren't a deterrent (and they definitely were), the idea that I'd get to work and my office would be 90 all day with no chance of cooling off made bicycling not likely to happen. But now the AC appears to be working, and the high temps are only around 85-90, so I can bike again. Yay!
