well my day has turned into good news and bad news, the bad news outweighing the good unfortunately.
The bad news is that my great-uncle bill who i was close to when I lived in Indiana died this morning around 1am. My grandparents on my dad side called me last month to let me know that he was in bad shape and wasn't going to be around too much longer and about 10 minutes ago they called me to tell me that he was gone. Throughout my life I thought of my great-uncle as a very strong, honorable man whom I respected very much and it's a shame that the world no longer has him in it.
The good news which unfortunately has been overshadowed is that one of the funniest movies of all time, one of my favorite movies of all time is having a sequel made and will be out sometime last this year. What movie you ask? Clerks made by my favorite filmmaker Kevin Smith. Normally if I saw that a sequel was being made of a movie that I liked I would make a rather grotesque groan and instantly think of the movie as a piece of shit. This will not be the case in the case of Clerks II however. Kevin Smith's wit is genuine and hilarious and I have a deep respect for all of his movies. He has a deep respect for his fans and a great talent at storytelling. In case you have never seen a Kevin Smith movie I suggest you watch one and see what you think of it, I would suggest Clerks to start b/c the background information that you learn from that movie will help you understand subtle jokes throughout the next 4 movies that he made. His movies are not for everyone though b/c they are a lot of dialogue and you have to pay attention to what the characters are saying to hear some of the funniest lines. In case you have an interest in seeing what I'm fussing about I own every one of his movies.
Clerks- quite simply a classic, funny and smart
Mallrats- cult classic...snootchie bootchies!
Chasing Amy- excellent movie, love story with a twist
Dogma- who couldnt make a movie making fun of the catholic church?
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back- loaded with cameos and less dialogue comedy than the others, still funny tho but more of a dick and fart joke comedy
Jersey Girl- the movie that will make you think that ben affleck can actually act, once again a love story except this time affleck isnt falling in love with a lesbian
