Shikamaru’s foregone the pillow-stuffing earplugs he’s been using so far this week for now, instead just going barefoot and settling beneath a tree near the waterfall. [Walking by to investigate some plants Finny stops to stare about ten feet from Shikamaru. He's not that discreet about it either. Just staring trying to decide if this is the guy Sebastian warned him about.]

[Shikamaru raises an eyebrow at the boy, staring for a few seconds before offering a simple, two-fingered wave.

What're you lookin' at, kid?]

[Finny jumps at the wave. Oh no. Caught staring. Better try to cover it quick! He waves awkwardly back.]

[... Weird. Shika watches Finny curiously, speaking softly when he replies.]

You okay, kid?

[gardeners012]

Sorry! I'm fine mister! [He slaps his hands over his mouth. It's not been easy getting the hang of being quiet all the time. He takes a step back. While he isn't really supposed to be speaking to Shikamaru he is curious about him so he stays.]

[Shika winces at the sudden noise, sighing lightly when it passes.]

[Finny nods vigorously.]

How long have you been here? [Still a little wary.]

[nihonjika]

[Shika just looks calm. Not threatening at all.]

More than two years now.

[It's strange just how nonthreatening Skika seems to be. Sebastian went out of the way to warn Finny about him after all. He moves a little closer and manages to keep his voice down this time.]

That's a long time! Do you know lots of the people here?

[nihonjika]

[He nods.] Most of them, I think.

[Or if he doesn't know them, he at least knows of them.]
