I've never, ever been so glad that I'm at work. Not because I like work itself, but because being at work meant I was conveniently placed to run and see what had happened to AJ and Madsen after Arianna called. It took some coaxing, but I got my supervisor to let me off an hour early. It wasn't like I was leaving the building, anyway. If they really

All that, and I never had to say a word. Am I that transparent? In this situation, that probably wasn't a bad thing. I was feeling guilty, but it would take a lot for me to come out and say it out loud. Madsen telling me it wasn't my fault was nice. It helped a little. I didn't know if that was how he really felt or if he was just saying that, but either way, it helped.
Whoa, did he just kiss me? Nothing like that tiny kiss on the cheek I'd given him. This was a real kiss. As in, an on-the-lips kiss. Oh God, what am I, fourteen? Getting all worked up over something so small. At least I could assume this meant things were alright between the two of us.
"We're cool, right?"
I smiled, still leaning over the bed a little. "Yeah. We're cool," I told him, reaching out and tousling his hair. "And this time, when that ass-kicking rolls around? I'll be there to spot you."
Because hell if I'm going to miss that.

Ugh. Have they forgotten I can hear them?
Probably not.
I can even hear them kissing. What the fuck. I'm right here. Behind a crappy curtain, sure, but I'm here. I guess this isn't the time or place to ask for common courtesy. I really need to use some leverage to get myself moved to a private room. I'm practically a doctor, for Christ's sake. I shouldn't have to share a room with the jerkoff that broke my fucking arm. I should be in a nice, private, exclusive room.
With a view.
"If you two are going to keep on necking over there, could you quiet the fuck down? There are other people in the room."

"Sounds good to me." I grinned. Yeah, I totally like this chick. I mean, beyond the sex and all, I'm not sure, but I definitely like this chick. I'll just have to find out about the rest of it, maybe Sammy can gimmie some advice or something.
"If you two are going to keep on necking over there, could you quiet the fuck down? There are other people in the room."
"Dude, shut the hell up now, before I find a way to come over there and beat your ass down a second time!" Okay, maybe this is a moment killer, but dude, he's not supposed to exist when there's moments happening.
I grumbled and looked over at Alex. "You probably should get back to work or something, right?" I didn't really want her to leave, 'cause if she left I was probably gonna find a way to kill Doctor Dude. But if she's gotta work, she's gotta work.
Not everyone can be totally stuck in a hospital bed forever with no chance of escape.
... Dude.

I really hate him. A lot. Did I mention I hate him? Because I do. Skanky cheating uppity asshole.
"Dude, shut the hell up now, before I find a way to come over there and beat your ass down a second time!"
He's so good. I would actually love to see him find a way to roll over there and beat the crap out of AJ, but knowing AJ, that would probably be followed by a heavy lawsuit. Noone wants that. Although Madsen could probably afford it. Isn't he supposed to be loaded?
Not like that matters. And I think it might be really terrible for me to be thinking that in the first place, actually.
"You probably should get back to work or something, right?"
I didn't want to leave, but he had a point. I did have that cozy desk and homey stack of paperwork waiting for me upstairs.
"Yeah, unfortunately... I should probably head back. I told them I wouldn't be gone too long. I could stop by again when I'm done, though. It that's okay with you."
I have no doubt that it will be.

"Yeah." I nodded, leaning back against the pillow, and grinned. "That's completely cool with me." I looked over at Doctor Dude's curtain.
"And uh... can you make sure that the nurses keep Asshole's curtain shut?" I got the connections here dude, I might as well ask her if she can.
"Oh, and tell Juanita that the soda she's bringing in, I'm cool with, just no more diet stuff." Okay, maybe I got a sweet little nurse network thing happening, but Alex is still totally my main nurse in all this.

I grinned back at him. "Sure thing. I'll try, at least. Can't make any promises, but at the very least, it'll stay shut whenever I'm on duty. I'll pin it when I come back so it doesn't fly open. They'll have to open it at some point, but... I'll be sure to come up with some kind of 'condition' that requires he have his privacy at all times." It must be killing him to have to hear all this and not be able to see us.
... actually, I find that very, very amusing.
"Oh, and tell Juanita that the soda she's bringing in, I'm cool with, just no more diet stuff."
No, he's not using his connections or anything. I grinned again and nodded. "I'll mention it to her, same time I tell her to keep her blouse buttoned up all the way when she comes in here," I teased, lightly poking him in the shoulder, only afterwards realizing I might have hit some kind of bruise.
Whoops. Hope not.
I got up out of my chair and pushed it back against the wall. "See you later, then?"

Okay, so this won't be total hell. I've got the connections, Asshole guy is totally left with squat on this one. So at least I'm gonna be taken care of, despite not being able to do anything that's remotely cool...
... Dude!
"I'll mention it to her, same time I tell her to keep her blouse buttoned up all the way when she comes in here,"
Just... missed... the bruise. I'm gonna let that pass. Because it's Alex. So it's going to be cool. Even though it would have been ow if it'd been a little to the left.
"See you later, then?"
I grinned and nodded. "Yeah, later." I watched her walk out, and waited, counting to ten inside my head. Then I looked over at AJ's curtain. "What now Asshole?! I so totally have it better than you!"
