I've never, ever been so glad that I'm at work. Not because I like work itself, but because being at work meant I was conveniently placed to run and see what had happened to AJ and Madsen after Arianna called. It took some coaxing, but I got my supervisor to let me off an hour early. It wasn't like I was leaving the building, anyway. If they really needed me to get back to work, they wouldn't have to look far to find me.
"Oh my God."
I couldn't believe what I saw when I finally reach Madsen's room. I was surprised by not only the extent of the injuries that had landed him in the hospital, but also at the sight of his roommate.
They put him and AJ in the same room? Together?!
What the crap. Dumbasses.
I was already halfway across the room when AJ's grating voice stopped me.
"Hey, baby..." I just looked over my shoulder and glared at him.
"Go to hell. I'm not here to see you." I crossed over to the window side of the room to find a rather pathetic-looking Madsen with his leg all bound up and resting in a high sling. They had to put him in freakin' traction? What the hell did AJ do to him? I never thought AJ would be able to hit that hard.
"Hey..." I almost asked him if he was okay, but that question was beyond dumb. "... how are you feeling?"
Shit... this is all my fault.
