You would think that by now, I'd reached what Americans call rock
bottom. "Nowhere to go but up."
Instead, I have gone from disgraced ex Watcher in a strange country, to "fugitive from justice."
Detective Lockley appears quite capable. I have no doubt that she'll find me before long.
That possibility concerns me rather less than her finding Evan.
The sort of questions she'd likely ask would bring him a great deal of trouble. I see no choice but to bring him to Giles' home and then leave, hoping to divert Lockley's attention. I will hide out elsewhere.
However, if worse comes to worst, I may have to "obstruct justice"
yet again. Spending the night in a jail cell is very nearly suicidal at this juncture. A prison is a public place, and Savannah
is no doubt after my head.
Evan will be safe with them. That's what matters. I won't ask for more than I deserve this time.
