"Stuff" Such a versatile term, wouldn't you agree?

Yeah... I've made student judge for this year's "Verses of the Literati" aka, our school's poetry contest.

Now I doubt that I'm that competent an individual to be judging poetry, but the head honcho assures me otherwise.

But, still! >.O

The process entails dividing the entries into 3 categories: No way; Maybe; Definitely

Of the Definitely's, I'm to chooose a Top 5, but there'll be 7 honourable mentions, so I'll save myself the trouble and do it all in one go.

Thank God I'm not credited, though. I don't want people egging my house.

Again.

In other news...

I'll finally be seeing V for Vendetta. Now, I've hearing mixed things about this movie, but the negatives are coming from people with virtually no attention spans, or who are just in it for the fight scenes. Don't get me wrong, I love kickass fight scenes, but if I wanted to watch a movie consisting of only fight scenes, and little or no plot, I'll watch Ong-Bak.

Grape of the day: We were discussing random topics in English today (I don't know, it was after lunch on a friday, sue me. ò.ó [just try to forget I'm judging a poetry contest]) when this girl was talking about how all kids are born into the world, loved, and there's so much love in the world...

I'm sure that's more than enough to snap anybody out of any ADD-induced stupor.

That I could not let go. These girls were absolutely delusional. And dumb. And ignorant. There are these things that parents do to their kids, it's called: abuse and neglect. Ever heard of them?

Babies have ended up in garbage cans, toilet bowls, and outhouses. Children are denied the basic of needs from their guardians. Not to long ago a boy died in Ontario from malnourishment, and many infections in Canada.

This was the worst case of malnourishment and infection a specialist on the case had ever seen, and he's done check-ups on kids in Africa. He weighed in at 21 lbs. when he was One year old.

He was 20 when he died.

I mentioned the Ontario bit because it's where I live so it was on the news for a while. Honestly, you'd have to of really gone out of your way not to have heard that.

But it really, really pissed me off how unaware these girls were--actually one doesn't have to do with giving two shits about the world, it's just a matter of common-freaking-sense. As sad as it is, not all children are born into the world wanted and loved ask someone. Some parents don't give a shit about their kids. Others, in the wrong way. I could go on forever, but you all know this already, and I don't want to, too depressing.

These comments were coming from girls who did a 15min. presentation on the history of Barbie (of which they had shitloads).

Read in that what you will.
