Red Lake Tragedy
OK, this was inevitable, I was only stalling it because I couldnt bring myself to sit at the computer at all....or eat....for 2 days. Odd the way things like this affect you, I go from losing my composure completely and breaking down in tears to being completely numb like Im outside of myself.
By now you all know my mother was shot and killed in Red Lake while teaching, what you dont know is how this has affected me and mine. I still think that my children dont totally comprehend whats happened, other then they wont get to see grandma anymore...it took me hours to even be able to tell them.
For awile after I was informed of the incident I was looking for someone to hate, I know this sounds shallow, but I desperately needed to be a part of some kind of justice, mainly because everyone loved my mother, she was always trying to help people wherever she could. But alas, the stupid child who was responsible for bringing me and my family so much pain killed himself, and in doing so robbed me of ANY kind of justice.
My mothers body was taken down south near the twin cities for an autopsy, this is standard procedure whenever there is a crime committed in connection with the death....its a law I was told and theres nothing we can do about it. This makes no sense to me since it was all on tape and they have living witnesses that the perp is dead. But WHATEVER......
The main thing that upsets me about this is we cant even plan her funeral accurately, because we dont know when theyre going to be done and we can have her body back. On top of this I have relatives flying in from California and Alaska, and I cant even give them a date thats definitive.
All ranting aside I can safely say that this is the hardest death Ive ever had to deal with and I am so glad that I have the support of family and friends to get through it...thank you all for your well wishes, you have no idea how much they mean to us.
Lastly, I read this kids LJ, so any of you who think that this kid was "goth" as quoted by another dumb kid should know that Ive been in the scene since 1983, and just because this kid wore black and was suicidal does NOT make him a part of a music/social scene that I have not only lived in for that many years, but have contributed to as well by running clubs, DJing etc. It is EXTREMELY upsetting to me and my wife to hear this evil CHILD associated in ANY way with who we are.
