Today was interesting.
In Sickbay I played quite a few of the songs I mentioned in my last log, but I don't think Doc saw the coincidental humour in him telling me his thoughts on choosing his name again, and at exactly that moment, 'Doctor Who' started blaring over the audio channel.
The look on his face when it registered in his mind wasn't the happiest I've seen him. I think he thought I triggered the track to play. It just happened! Pure coincidence.
He told me to take a break, so I checked the LJ system, and found B'Elanna
paristorres was still working on the project in Engineering. She sounded tired, bored or both, so I grabbed a couple of sandwiches from the Replicator, and found her slaving away in a nearby Jefferies tube, making alterations. I couldn't be told what exactly, at least, not yet, but she and I took a break to...talk and actually eat something.
After a short while, I headed back to Sickbay, where I found Doc trying to shut off the audio system. He'd tried to take it offline, but had accidentally triggered one song to play for at least half an hour.
It also made me realise some of the songs I have, like the one that was looping, called 'Joop!', aren't as entertaining as I first thought it was.
Helm duty was pretty average, Captain
kathrynjaneway and
chakotay sat behind me,
seven_of_nine behind them, and
harry_kim at Ops.
There was a bump or two, but it turned out that it was just the inertial dampners playing up. As if B'Elanna didn't have enough on her plate. She dispatched a team to check the problem, and Voyager's flying a lot smoother now.
The dampners must have been left on the backburner while the project was being worked on.
I've just showered and changed into off-duty clothes, and I'm all set for the dinner I promised B'Elanna, I just need to get her to take an hour off.
It sounds easy in theory, but when she's on a roll working, she'll plow through the work until it's solved, completed, or completely useless.
Wish me luck!
