I GOT A JOB!!!!!! I GOT A JOB!!!!!! I GOT A JOB!!!!!!

Excuse me while I continue to run around and perform many a happy dance.

Okay, so to fill in slightly. Went in for two interviews over the last couple weeks and yesterday received a phone call from HR informing me that I had gotten the job. At Christie's King Street!!! :-) :-) :-)

I will be working in the Islamic Arts and Carpet department as an administrator and PA to the international specialist in charge of the department. And I know the admin. thing might not seem as amazing as a specialist, but I'll be responsible for so many things! Like:

Screen all telephone, fax and postal enquiries and respond where appropriate
Liaising with Marketing and Special Events regarding ads, web marketing and events relating to sales.
Primary liaison with internal support departments.
Manage stock control with assistance from porter and intern
Co-ordinate travel arrangements, hand-carries and deal with expenses
Overseeing the arrival of sale property including pre-allocation of stock numbers
liaison with regional offices
send vendor consignment paperwork
input and amend catalogue entries and organise photography of all lots
Distribute condition reports and maintain condition report file
co-ordinate after-sales and held lots and item transfers liaisin
responsible for the props list and pre-settlement reports.
Arrange and minute pre and post sale debriefs.
Organise call-cover with bids department.

I will also be working with the catalogs, photography, clients, and helping perform valuations on objects. This position really is amazing. I will be able to gain some serious experience working in all sorts of aspects within the company, make tons of contacts, and get my foot in the door to start moving upwards. William (international specialist extraordinaire) even said that admin's usually only last for about two years and began to ask me about how long I can stay in the country within visa regulations and mentioned different paths through the company that originate in admin positions. He was already talking about advancement!!! And now I can stay!!!! And not live in a cardboard box or be shipped home or out of money with no prospects very soon!!! Which is how things were looking until quite recently.

And, to be honest, I can't believe I was chosen for the job. I have no idea how to do most of those things on the list and certainly don't have the two years experience they were looking for. I never would have applied and was only considered because someone from HR put my CV through to the department. Just goes to show you, apply for everything. You really do never know.

Thank you so much to everyone who offered support and helped me through the process. Seriously, couldn't have done it without you.

GOT A JOB!!!!!! GOT A JOB!!!!!! GOT A JOB!!!!
