Happy Hanukkah, everyone! (and yes, I am aware that it started Friday night)
I have to say, I've done okay so far in the present department. Aside from my grandmother's very clever gift, I also scored a nice pair of earrings from my parents, plus a bracelet that came in handy Saturday night and a small black jacket from my favorite if-I-had-money-and-a-serious-job-I-would-always-shop-there-store, Banana Republic.
Oh, and did I mention the penguin? Yep, I have a penguin. A real live breathing penguin. Okay, so he's over in the Falklands. Whatever, very trivial. Graeme donated to a conservation society and in exchange I have my very own penguin. It's even named Racheal (spelled correctly). I got so excited I ran downstairs yelling "I got a penguin" and flapping my arms very much like, well, like a penguin (yep, total dork). And that's not all. Let's just say Graeme figured out a way to send me the completed Rosetta Stone series for both French and Spanish. Yep, a $300 value. For free.
Awesome gifts aside, I spent Saturday running around doing errands and then getting ready for our company's very swanky holiday party. Since I found my camera cable you might actually get to see a posted picture of me dressed up (the dress was really nice, black satin-y material that had a low V neck, tight banding around the ribcage, and flowed out to the knees). I actually had a really good time. There was cocktail hour, picture taking, really yummy dinner, picture taking, and lots of dancing, plus more pictures (taken at very unfair times while I was distracted and not really paying attention to whatever ridiculous face I was making at the time). Like I said, it went really well, though I did have to very firmly tell two very nice gentlemen that I was unavailable and therefore unable to accept a job that would require me to eat lots of chocolate and sit around looking cute all day.
And Sunday was rest day (hmm...slightly wrong religion). But I can happily say that I have written out all of my cards, wrapped all my gifts, and will be mailing everything this afternoon. Yay! Just remember, I am only mailing things out to people that I know I have absolutely no chance of seeing in the next few weeks.
And on that note, I shall leave you with my current favorite inspirational message (honestly, it took me 30 seconds to figure it out):
Having trouble finding the perfect gift? Don't worry, God already sent one.
