montreal again! and some other stuff

I. I am back from Montreal! I spent the weekend with goldy_dollar and we went to ~the planetarium~ because we're 5 year olds and then we saw a Just for Laughs thing with kazutakia. The comedian we saw was a woman named DeAnne Smith and she was actually quite hysterical, which was awesome since with smaller-named comedians it can be hit or miss. She's got a YouTube channel which I haven't fully perused yet but the set she did on Saturday was very funny. Anyway, I haven't had my laptop with me for the last couple days so I'm behind on The Internets and stuff, let me know if I missed anything particularly important.

II. So there's a new Doctor Who trailer that I cannot embed because YouTube won't let you embed anything anymore even though embedding was like 75% of what YouTube had going for it. I don't have much to say but I hope I like s6b more than s6a. I would find it unlikely that it can be worse than I expect since I am not expecting much and I don't think they can take this plotline anywhere I will like, but who knows. Also, not sure how I feel about Moffat writing Hitler. I am not convinced it will be appropriately... whatever that it should be. Isn't that what the Daleks are for?

LOL @ it starting on August 27 though. I WILL BE IN ENGLAND. LOL shinyopals. WE CAN WATCH IT ~TOGETHER~.

III. Speaking of, today is the 24th which means I leave in a month! That is exciting but means there are also lots of things I need to start doing in preparation. Like... buying shoes that are actually comfortable for extended periods of time. Hmmm.

IV. Also, we watched Torchwood on Saturday. I don't remember that much so I don't have much to say except LOL OMG THE MOMENT WHEN JACK IS ON THE PHONE WITH GWEN AND STARTS TALKING ABOUT IDEK HOW MUCH HE LOVES HER OR SOMETHING (I COULD NOT HEAR OVER MY LAUGHTER) WHILE SHE SKYPES WITH RHYS AND ANWEN AND HANGS UP ON HIM AND JACK IS FOREVERALONE.JPEG LOLLLLLLLL omg I laughed so hard, I was so delighted.

also lol "bigger on the inside" nod to the parent universe, I C U. I accept it though.

V. Lastly, in lieu of bringing my computer I brought A Clash of Kings so now I'm on page 150 which is nothing because this book is monstrous. I am liking the book okay, though the writing is not dazzling me and I am like 10000% more interested when chapters are about the characters I know and love from the show than when it's about Dav(r)os or whatever. The opening chapter took me a couple starts to even read because I was like DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE DON'T CURR.

Basically I don't know how I feel about these books in general, or how much I actually want to read them. Every impression I get is basically that EVERYONE IS TERRIBLE and SOON THE TABLES WILL TURN AND MY FAVOURITES WILL BE THE WORST AND VICE VERSA and tbh I'm kind of like "listen plot twists I'm really happy for you, but..." I just want to live in a little bubble loving the characters I loved in s1 and that is basically all. I mean, I know the tv show will presumably get there eventually too, but... IDK. I guess it is a good sign that I feel attached to some of these characters enough that I don't want to read bad things happening to them or them turning into terrible people, but on the other hand that still means that I am feeling apprehensive and not super eager to keep reading. I don't really know how to explain it, but basically I still think in a perfect world this would just be a tv show I watch and I could wait eagerly for s2 without having to read a bunch of giant tomes to prevent myself being spoiled by ONTD posts.

I will say though that I've seen enough talk on the interwebs to know two now-defunct fancastings, namely Chris Eccleston as Stannis and Natalie Dormer as Melisandre. I don't usually picture actors as characters without good reason (like tv fanfic, or these books because of seeing the TV show first) and I KNOW FOR A FACT that neither of these castings are going to be ~true and now I'm going to be all befuddled when s2 airs and they are not Eccleston or Dormer, but I cannot stop myself. The result is me being amused-ly fond of Stannis from the start, and loling forever at that one line that was like NO ONE HAD EVER TAUGHT STANNIS HOW TO LAUGH. I just imagine Nine sulking around shoving swords into fire and bitching about his brothers getting all the attention. lololol.
