Eyepatch lady stole the baby because apparently being conceived in flight in the vortex makes you part-Time Lord. Somehow. So Eyepatch Lady wanted to raise the baby Time Lord as a weapon to use against the Doctor, because he has earned a reputation for being ~a monster~. So they stole Amy, and the baby.
The Doctor and Rory storm in with a bunch of Silurians and stuff to rescue Amy and Baby, whom Amy named Melody. They do that. By the midpoint everything seems hunky-dory. But, surprise! The baby they rescued was a Flesh Baby and the real Melody has been stolen for reals. There is an anticlimatic battle where nothing really happens but some extras die. Then River shows up, and yells at the Doctor a bit for how he is kind of a dick -- like, "you call yourself the Doctor but you pride yourself on making armies run away in fear", kind of a verbal bitchslap, actually it was a little awesome.
But anyway, then he snaps at her and is all TELL ME WHO YOU ARE!!1 and we find out that she is Melody. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnn.

I really loved that speech. I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, but it seemed shockingly self-aware for Moffat. Like was he admitting that what Eleven did with humanity and the Silence was bad????
TY FOR MAKING THIS POST. I've been trying to make a post with my feelings, but since my feelings are basically "....meh" that doesn't exactly make for thrilling blogging material. Like stuff happened but I didn't really understand the point other than to get us to the point where there is the ~big revelation~
Arthur Darvill was looking pretty fine this episode imo at least. So that's something.
Also, it makes the Flesh and Blood/Time of the Angels stuff with River as Amy's pseudo mom very weird.
LOL As a hiatus cliffhanger, last episode would've been SO much better. Now I am just like "oh" instead of ":O THE PLOT THICKENS". I've been seeing people speculate about River being their kid since like season 5, so...
Arthur looked great ngl, this was what I paid most attention to during certain scenes.
Yeah, I was pretty much going "What the everloving actual fuck" for the whole thing. I mean, I guess I'm glad the Dcotor is getting smacked in the face hard with the fact that his douchiness is becoming a problem, but, er, that could have gone a lot better, overall.
Like with the wacky adventures of Thin And Fat Gay Couple, Femslash Victorian sleuthing couple, starry-eyed soldiergirl, and nurse!Sontaran actually getting their own fun adventures. I would watch that.
Yeah, it was like... I didn't hate it, but I also didn't really like it that much, and for all the build-up I thought it was a huge disappointment. Nothing really happened in this episode other than the "Amy I am your daugher" thing. It was like 50 minutes of anticlimax, and then a hiatus. What? Who cares? The previous cliffhanger from episode 6 would've been a much more exciting thing to go into the hiatus with. Now I just don't care. The baby's gone, but it's okay because River is RIGHT THERE, all growed up and a-okay. Timey-wimey eliminates plot conflict again. Hurrah.

It is actually 900 times less interesting when you know the plot. SORRY DOCTOR WHO.

In summary, Hannah and Ben, that is basically it.
