30 female characters meme ...as done in 15 days
Omfg today is boring and dreary and rainy. WHYYYY.
So here is the start of a meme.
Every day for thirty days you post about an awesome female character. Pictures! Recs! Squee! What's not to love?
Listing 30 was surprisingly and depressingly difficult, but it ended up seeming more like an epic challenge than anything else so I could not turn it down. And I am doing this in no particular order, and because I know several of them will be no surprises to anyone I am going to open with some that probably will surprise you.
I think I am going to do 2 a day, though, because that is how I roll.
FLEUR DELACOUR of Harry Potter
“And what do you mean by zat?” said Fleur suddenly and loudly. “What do you mean, ‘’e was going to be married?”
Mrs. Weasley raised her tear-stained face, looking startled. “Well - only that - “
“You theenk Bill will not wish to marry me anymore?” demanded Fleur. “You theenk, because of these bites, he will not love me?”
“No, that’s not what I-“
“Becaue ‘e will!” said Fleur, drawing herself up to her full height and throwing back her long mane of silver hair. “It would take more than a werewolf to stop Bill loving me!”
“Well, yes, I’m sure,” said Mrs. Weasley, “but I thought perhaps - given how - how he--“
“You thought I would not weesh to marry him? Or per’aps, you hoped?” said Fleur, her nostrils flaring. “What do I care about how he looks? I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk!”

Fleur is a badass. I love Fleur. I always had a peculiar fondness for her, but then in HBP she’s all “I AM HOT ENOUGH FOR BOTH OF US TYVM” and my fondness turned into FUCK YEAH FLEUR DELACOUR. I like that so many of the people in the book write her off as shallow and vapid and not good enough for precious Bill~ just because she’s hot …and then they are ALL WRONG and she is awesome. I also think they don’t give her enough credit for being a Triwizard Champion which is supposed to be very serious business and all.
Admittedly a large portion of my love for her may have stemmed from the ever-awesome Five Women Who Hate Fleur Delacour, but whatever, that fic is awesome.
HOLLY FLAX from The Office
Holly is like all the funny parts of Michael without everything that makes him completely insufferable. She was also one of the few things about season 5 that I enjoyed, so I was sad to see her go. I even think Holly being around made Michael a little less intolerable, so it was doubly tragic to lose her. Late-in-the-game character introductions are risky but Holly wound up being breathing a bit of life into the show when it desperately needed it. I guess Amy Ryan had to go leave to be kind of a big deal, which is too bad I think because she was a good addition.
I tried finding a YouTube clip of Holly being awesome but only found shippy fanvideos of Holly/Michael. Errrrr.
