Do you have children? If not, do you want them one day? Talk about what being a parent means to you.
Being the first, and one of a kind. The First Evil does not have children. Nor do I want any kids. Children are too much trouble. They are too annoying and stressful to handle. I can't even deal with having a pet hamster. Therefore, there is no way I'd wanna put myself through all the drama of trying to raise a bratty kid. So think I'll leave the having kids and being a parent to those more able to handle such responsibility.
In terms of what being a parent means to me. It means being a care giver. It means loving someone more than yourself. It means being a responsible adult. It means unconditional love and support to a helpless child. It means being protective and helpful, and blah, blah, blah. It basically means being a good parent. And in order to be a good parent, you have to be a good person. Parenting is not meant for the bad guys. From first hand experience, the children of most baddies are totally screwed up, and end up following in their messed up parents footsteps.
An example of a bad parent would be Buffy's old man. He cheated on their mom, then ran off with the secretary. Leaving the poor, heartbroken mom to raise Buffy and later Dawn on her own. Not having the love or support of her father has left Buffy with daddy issues. Her deep seeded fear of being abandoned and rejected again, has made it hard for her to maintain any long term intimate bonds with the opposite sex. It also lead her to be attracted to the bad boy type. Men as screwed up as her. Men who likewise have their own mommy and daddy issues. Like the daddy issues of her first love Angel. But I don't feel like getting into all the issues Liam aka Angel had with his not so loving father. Lets just say some kids that don't get the love they need, have a troubled and sad life to endure.
Anyway, horrible parents with bad adult supervision lead to messed up adults. So my public service announcement of the decade is that nobody should have children unless they have the motivation and desire to actually be good parents. Otherwise they do no favors to themselves or society in general.
