i think if i ever hear someone having a political debate again, i'm just going to walk away. not because their ignorant, most know more than me actually, but because i think i can safely say these people have never voted in their lives. if they have so much to complain about, it's pretty simple to go out and have an opinion about it. they'll say, what will one more vote do?, but actually if all of these complainers went, it starts addin up. duh.
i've never had the slightest interest in politics until i came here. but i find myself reading newspapers a lot, and it's actually kind of interesting. before reading, i was always kind of biased towards devos just because i'd always heard a lot of people slamming granholm. but i caught some of the debate on tv, and um, she tore him apart. i also learned to never take on other people's ideas until you have the facts, because i'm against a ton of things devos supports. he doesn't believe in same sex marriage, and he's extreme pro-life (meaning even if someone was raped, he doesn't think they should have an abortion). he just didn't seem to know what he was talking about. the last thing i learned that surprised me a lot, and i don't know if i'm being stupid here?, because it's always been my belief that stem cell research is illegal. well apparently it's not. it's just that the funding only goes to the programs where no embryo is discarded, as in adult stem cells. (which basically still renders it useless) and also, it's legal in michigan as long as the embryo's are extracted in a different state. weird. but wow i'm glad i got that cleared up. now i can join a political debate and sound somewhat smart =]
so yeah, since mumbrue went to all the trouble of having us register to vote, maybe i'll put it to use this november
