Oohh, hello there :-) Well, I can deal with people telling me this from afar, but this subject drove me completely insane during our visit a month ago. My son is 3 now and he still knows only a few words in Russian yet is completely fluent in English (he tells me stories, does role play etc). He loved hanging out with my mom, so when we were visiting he has tried to find a language to talk to her (they were having a ton of fun and watching him look for a verbal way to talk to her was pretty amazing). So, he'd run up to me during a play and say "mom, how do you say "fridge" in belarus? "how do you say juice in belarus? He've learned a few things.
We have a neighbor from Russia who has a child of the same age. She is more persistent of teaching her Russian than I am. Her little girl doesn't go to daycare, but at the age of 3 she only says a few words (i'm not certain which language she understands at this point), and she consistently mixes up words when she says them (e.g. "hot чай"). It's sad because my son and her love each other greatly but they can't play any verbal games at this time - don't get me wrong, they roll each other in the snow and laugh, but role play and communication between each other is not possible at this time for those two.
