Most of those movies lots of people liked quite a bit. ND, for instance; I haven't come across anyone yet that didn't like it.
Sometimes I empathize with the wrong character; sometimes I project my feelings of embarrassment onto a character (In other words, the clueless geek that you're SUPPOSED to love - I can see he's dumb, awkward, embarrassing, and stupid and I'm embarrassed FOR him). I also get over-involved with media so it's an intense experience for me - horror movies are Right. Out.
People lose what they always lose in things like this: they lose the opportunity to be a winner!
HA! That's funny because I think YOU were the demographic they were going for! They didn't count on gamergeekguys like you to have such a sorid past as you did, Takumi :P
Polt. was a good movie, and indeed I thought it was well done (esp. for the times) but it was BAD for me. BAD. Gave me nightmares LIEK WHOA.
I detested Kill Bill 1 with a violent passion. I loved two. But of course these are all personal things. It's why it's so wonderful that as human beings, "one man's trash is another man's treasure."
WOW. Those are two very different reactions to two movies that you'd think would be similar! I just can't see how you could even bear to watch the second movie, not caring AT ALL about the characters! Why did you see it?
I've already spent 2 hours on this - should I see the second? Is it as action-bloody? (I'm thinking that's what got everyone all riled up, talking about the movie - 'spurting blood' was the new thing. )
The first movie was just so violent. Not to say the 2nd wasn't, but for some reason the "feel" to them was very different. If you don't know how the 2nd movie turns out, I would suggest giving it a chance.
The first felt like it was almost unnecessary in places, like Tarantino was cutting his teeth on shock value. The 2nd felt more like an actual story. I thought the emotions in the 2nd one were stronger and that we got to like The Bride so much better. I saw it because a certain person in my life wanted to, and I think I was curious how the story turned out.
Better STORY would be good, at the very least! Because why did we even CARE about The Bride, anyway? He kept her away from us on purpose, bleeping her name - so it worked, Mister Tarantino, I don't identify.
Kill Bill is a slasher film. An artful one, sure, but if over-the-top, bloody action scenes aren't your thing, you won't enjoy it.
Happy Feet is cute but dumb. I didn't like it much, although there are worse movies out there.
Napoleon Dynamite is brilliant in how it overturns the conventions of the "loser" movie. (Generally, I hate those movies because the plot is all about laughing at the main character, who is then thrown some bone (generally recognition their one "special someone") at the end in lieu of an actual happy ending. Napoleon Dynamite, on the other hand, was great.)
Yes, see? I thought it was an Art Film - beautiful, little dense maybe, but full of Metaphors and Allegories and Story. Yeeeeeah, notsomuch.
I hated Happy Feet because it tried to spoon feed me and my children Environmental Lessons under the guise of a movie - BAD FORM, LEFT. BAD FORM. Plus? Animation was lousy, character design was WAY uninspired (see Surf's Up for a brilliant treatment of both) and it was BORING. Baaaaahhhh.

I was much more struck by the anti-religious message. Environmentalism is pretty typical of any movie that features cute animals as the main characters.
I DO love it! I got it off a thread about 'What To Do When You're Breaking Up With Someone' where a bunch of upbeat songs were mentioned. Do you have more songs like this? I love them! All 60s psych crossed with 90s tech sound, yum!
Well, I have lots of other Belle and Sebastian songs, although they don't all sound like that and they're not all very upbeat. But I'll try to pick out some good ones for you!
