I cannot even believe that my last post was almost a month ago. So, Amy and Alex left this morning for China. It's going to be very sad and strange not to have them in the house. I am not sure when I will see them again...maybe our paths will cross sometime in Toronto or Vancouver. Last night was a nice night, even with a bit of shitty drama. We all went to dinner and smoked up at the house. I am glad Nicky is sticking around until November...I still have some partying left in my system!
So, I have three new roommates...a really nice American guy, who is studying Chinese, a sweet Taiwanese girl, and another girl from Prague. It's become quite the international house. I am really glad we were able to find roommates...I wasn't ready to part with my amazing room and our awesome location!
I can't believe I will be in Iran in three weeks...my mom is already there, which is kind of strange because we always traveled together! I am so excited for my three day trip in Bangkok. There is still so much to see there, and this time I will have a lot of money to do souvenier shopping.
These past weeks have been amazing. My boy and I took a trip out to Keelung and hiked up a gorgeous mountain. At the top we watched the sunset and rode around in these tiny battery operated cars. The Taiwanese people were sketched out...haha. The Fifa games have been exciting...the Sweden/England game at 3 am was a sad point in the tournament.
Canada Day was a blast. Everyone was out on the grass, in front of the big stage in Da-an Park. There were musical performances all day. It felt like I was back in Victoria/Vancouver. The night before, we went to Cheers for a good-bye party for the girls and some of the gang. It was lots of fun! Last Sunday, the boy, his friend and I went to Danshui and Bali. Taiwan is just full of surprises. Danshui is a gorgeous coast town with beautiful walkways and boat rides. We ate random ice-cream, ate on the fifth floor of a Tiki style restaurant, and watched the sunset on the beach.
Next week is the graduation performance, and the kids are definitely getting excited. It seems like they all know their words and actions for the speech, song and dance, so I hope that no one freezes up on stage. It's been a bit stressful, but everything is beginning to fall into place. I finished my elementary school. I am excited to be working at a new school next term.
The A/C at the house is amazing. I am so glad I got it replaced. The weather has been alright these past few days, or maybe I am just starting to get used to it. My Chinese is coming along perfectly. I am starting to have simple conversations with the cab drivers, and store workers. I am also starting to recognize more and more characters! It's all very exciting.
Ok, time to go put the final touches on the graduation albums.
