I had a fantastic, but busy weekend! On Saturday, Jesse and I went to the vegetarian Buddhist restaurant, and then headed over to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. This was the third consecutive weekend that I have been there, and there is still so much more to see! After hanging out at the museum for a few hours, we got some street food and ate in the Confucius Temple nearby. That night, the girls and I headed over to Deluxe. There was some roommate drama, but it got resolved. After, Mer and I headed to the Partyroom, and met up with Jesse. The bartender there was very generous with the vodka, and we all got way too drunk. Haha, we all left at different times. It was a funny scene.
I don't know how, but I dragged myself out of bed at 7:00 am for the Canadian Society's Climbathon up Taipei 101. Mer and I volunteered on the 84th floor. We welcomed the runners and gave them stickers based on which floor they made it to. Some of the runners were cranky and didn't want to talk to anyone...haha you can't blame them though. I wouldn't want to talk to anyone after I climbed up the world's tallest building. Other than some of the cranky people, the event was really fun. Lots of foreigners were dressed up in hilarious costumes. There was a huge party on the 84th floor, with lots of free food, and drinks. I was feeling pretty good until 11 ish, when I suddenly got sick. I said good-bye to Mer and some of our friends and headed home...only to be locked out outside for an hour...haha! Hangovers are not a good scene.
I am really glad we helped out though. I definitely miss being involved in the community and this was an awesome event to take part in! In the words of the CS President, "the 1.85 million NT we raised (probably more pending a final accounting) is probably more money raised for a charity organized by the expat community in a single event than ever before in Taiwan."
On Sunday night, Mer and I watched MI3...it had some cheesy parts, but the storyline was fantastic and some of the scenes were just gorgeous. It was so cool to see the scenes of Shanghai. When you watch an American movie with those scenes, you sometimes forget that you are in Asia, but then you step out of the theatre, and realize that you are right in the middle of it!
I love my new Chinese classes...I am starting to pick up phrases when I hear my kids speaking. Alright, time to take a nap with my kids. I am starting a new one-on-one class with the VP of Dantes today, so it's going to be an extra long day.
