1. HypnoBirthing - The Mongan Method by Marie F. Mongan; 319 pages
If you find yourself to be pregnant I can recommend it. A short description: "a natural approach to a safe, easier, more comfortable birthing". If it will really help during birth I don't know yet. It does already help in daily life: the relaxation techniques and the idea of the strength of thoughts (so keep your thoughts positive!). The breathing techniques and the visualization actually really help with for instance going to the toilet (during pregnancy it can be a bit harder to get your stool out, but this way, it's easy, calm and painless). I still have to listen to the enclosed relaxation and birth rehearsal CD. And one important thing to remember: "Childbirth si not something to be feared."
2. The Diaper Free Baby Christine Gross-Loh; 218 pages
"The Natural Toilet Training Alternative". This book is about elimination communication with your baby. The idea is that babies actually are aware of pooping and peeing and often let you know they have to go. Then why let them go in a diaper and sit in their own waste? I had heard of this theory when J was little, but never really did a lot with it (I guess having to pump all the milk was hectic enough). We did hold her over the toilet a couple of times when she was a baby and sometimes she even peed. We also let her be naked on warm days. I want to try to use this more with Bumper, but no stress. He will be wearing diapers (cloth) and we'll see how things go. A lot in the book is kind of repetitive, but I did get some new insights and ideas from it. It wasn't really an enjoyable read, though. It kind of felt like it was written like a thesis or something (really, I don't need a whole chapter devoted to what will be discussed in the next chapters, which was already pretty clear by the titles of those chapters).
