HISTORY!

i will now give a concise rundown of every decade since the fifties. it will consist of a brief history and a song embodying the decade that spawned it. the 70s-90s will be posted later.

1950s-

the fifties were a decade of vice and sin. a precursor to the sixties, the korean war was in full effect and i was feelin' fine! it was also the decade "the music died". buddy holly, the big bopper, and some other guy burned a horrible burning death when their aeroplane crashed. enter perry como's "catch a falling star". you see, he wrote it after a failed attempt to catch their crashing death-trap with his bear hands, and a subsequent failure to save doris day's floundering career. i chose this song out of my contempt for fatties and guys with glasses.

1960s-

peter, paul, and mary came out with "cruel war" in the 60s in an attempt to save their public image. you see, this was after the FIRST peter was poisoned, stabbed, shot, hung, stretched, disemboweled, drawn and quartered. and just before his head died. His last words were: "Death is but a door, time is but a window. I'll be back!". all of this was due in large part to a sizable unruly lynch mob who did all of that because they thought he was a communist. PETER, saint PETERsburg. their logic was flawless. hence the need for a song taking a stance on the cold war. i chose this song because i like ace of bass' cover of "cruel summer". and the names sound similar.
