Summary “That’s why you’re a hero. You’re the good guy.”
“Hey, hero!” Roxas groaned but didn’t turn around. He knew Axel was referring to him, yet he refused to give him any satisfaction by addressing it. It was annoying. Since Axel found out that Roxas had the Keyblade, he’d given him that accursed nickname. Roxas couldn’t fathom why, either. He was far from a hero. He was a Nobody. Nobodies couldn’t achieve hero status, plain and simple. Axel called out again, causing Roxas to turn and glare at him.
“What?” he demanded. Axel smirked, that annoying grin that made Roxas want to beat his face in. Very un-heroic indeed.
“Just wanted to see how you were doing,” he said in a manner that convinced Roxas that he was being mocked.
“I couldn’t say,” he told him. “I don’t have feelings.”
“Oh, yeah. I forgot,” Roxas gave him a look that Axel apparently thought was hilarious, for he burst out laughing.
“Shut up,” Roxas demanded.
“Make me,” Axel shot back. He’d stopped laughing, but the smirk on his face was still strategically placed. “Would you attack me with that Keyblade of yours?” Roxas glared but remained silent. “Didn’t think so. That’s why you’re a hero. You’re the good guy. Anyone else here would’ve, I’m sure.”
“No,” Roxas told him. “Heroes always have a heart of gold. I don’t even have a heart.”
“Doesn’t matter,” Axel told him. “You’re the good guy around here. Doing Xemnas’ bidding to get us all hearts. How noble.” Roxas would have protested, but he suddenly realized that it was true. Axel’s grin widened and he lifted a hand to tap his temple. Roxas frowned then as Axel walked away, clearly satisfied.
