ergh, so i got sideswiped by a volvo with no blinker last friday. i sprained my knee real bad. i worked on it friday & monday, but the pain was so excruciating that i decided (aka, dispatch made me take the day off) to go get it looked at. that's when i found out it was sprained, and they gave me crutches... which i'm not using. so, now i'm out of work for a few days, but my company is kindly giving me 50 bucks a day to NOT come into work. cesar is sweet. i don't know if he was buttering my ego, or was being genuine, but he said "i know it's not as much as you'd make if you were here, but we've got someone to cover you. he's not as smart, or as fast as you, but you don't have to worry about your job security." i'm pretty stoked about that. i work for a really good company. i'm glad it's just the five of us. i'd hate working for a large courier company. it's like a little family. 72 & 23 were so worried about me on monday. we were getting the tornado backlash winds, so it was a pretty intense day. i ran into 23 on kingsbury & ontario & he kept trying to get me food, or take my packages from me, but i just wouldn't budge. i feel there's a really heavy stigma in being a female courier. you have to be twice as tough, just to exceed said stigma, and fight off the traffic, the cat-calls, the elements, etc. not that being a male courier isn't just as tough, but everyone just expects you to complain the moment you sustain an injury. so, today i seek out a tapedeck (my stereo doesn't have one!) a polaroid (i got 6 rolls of almost expired film for 6 bucks!) & hopefull get outlines done on my sleeve. my knee is killing me, so it's time to take some aleve. i hate cars. or rather, cars that don't regard the rules of the road. how do they expect us to, if they don't? also, i'd like to make some t-shirts that read "jaywalking is for jerks." & "turn signals are awesome!"
