le fish...

So, I'm back in Wilmington after a visit to South Carolina. Hilton Head Island was pretty cool... we were really close to the beach, so we went there for the 2 full days we had. I actually got a tan in an attempt to even out my sunburn. Like, on purpose. The first day we went to the beach it was cloudy, but the second day the sun was out a bit more (though it did rain a bit while we were having lunch at the bar).
It was pretty fun, except for the part on the first day when I accidentally touched a fish or something in the ocean. Most who know me also know that I am reallyyyyyyy creeped out by fish, so having one unepectedly touch me is basically my greatest fear as far as swimming in the ocean goes. Anyway, my brother and I were swimming on the outskirts of a large group of people, and a wave had just gone by, so naturally I'd jumped up to go over it. Now, for me, swimming in the ocean mostly costitutes a lot of flailing about in the water, so I was paddling with my arms as I came down from the wave, and all of a sudden, my right hand hit something. OMFG. It was DISGUSTING. It was all slimey and squishy, except for like a row of ridges or something that scraped along my palm and index finger. Needless to say, I screamed bloody murder, jumped 10 feet in the air, cursed loudy (I feel bad about this, as there were small children about), told my brother that something had just touched me, and promptly hauled ass to the shore. EWWWWWWWWWWW. My dad was teasing me last night that maybe it was a shark that was about to attack, but I hit it in the face and it swam away. I will never know for sure, but I certainly hope that he's just kidding about that. It's bad enough to think about without contemplating that this preticular fish is capable of actually harming me. Blech.
Other than that, it was awesome. The hotel was really nice, there was delicious peanutbutter pie at that one restaurant, and I've watched 4 movies so far on this trip. Oh, also on the not-so-fun part, I had the WORST case of the hiccups after dinner last night/this morning. They were so bad, I started feeling sick to my stomach. But I'm ok now. Today we explored Charleston on the way back from Hilton Head. God, that is SUCH a pretty city.
Tomorrow, I tour UNCW... I need to get up super-early, so I should go to bed now. I'm pretty excited. We'll see how it goes.
