13 hours in the car. That was the longest day of my life. There was some huge accident in Philly, so we had to trun around and start going south again in New Jersey. It was earlier in the morning than I'm usually awake for, so I then slept through all of Deleware. I fell asleep for the majority of the drive through Virginia as well. All I really did for most of the trip was sleep and writhe about in agony (you try sitting on the world's stiffest seat for 5 hours straight and see how you feel). When we finally got into North Carolina, we had McDonalds for dinner. Good God, do I ever hate McDonalds. Everytime I eat there, I feel absolutely awful afterwards. So, feeling incredibly tired, ridiculously stiff and achey, and a bit sick, I curled up into a ball in the 1 square foot of space I had (I was stuck in the very back of the car in the folding seat with the luggage for the whole trip) and watched some Hamlet in an attempt to cheer myself up (which is kinda ironic). Which was more difficult than it sounds, because by this time, everyone had gone stir-crazy, and were blaring music/watching their movies with the volume all the way up/yelling to each other every 2 seconds, and I couldn't hear the movie. That was the single most uncomfortable carride of my life, trumping the time we drove to Florida and I had to pee desperately every five minutes, no matter how many times we stopped.
But now I'm at my aunt/uncle's house near Wilmington and off to bed at long last. Woooooooooot. We're here for a day or so, then we take ANOTHER 5 hour drive to South Carolina for a few days on Hilton Head Island, then we come back here for a few more days. More car. Fuuuuuun.
I feel bloody awful... but at least we're finally here.
