I know I'm being a really slow reader at the moment. Apologies. I'm saving up the book for next week when I have no classes and am refusing to study for my finals. :p
Chapter 11 is still Kahlan's. It's basically about her watching Richard's Ja'La game. In which Richard SYSTEMATICALLY DESTROYS EVERY MAN ON THE OPPOSING TEAM. "Hello, my name is Richard Rahl (actually, he's going by everyone's favorite alias, Ruben Rybnik), you killed my left wing man. Prepare to die." Deus Ex Messenger reappears, they leave. CHAPTER 12! Nicci. She wakes up after the encounter with Six. Apparently, she's been out cold for about a day. They put her in the goddamn pink night dress. AGAIN. So, this chapter is rrrrrrreeeeeeaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyy long and talky. Zedd explains how a witch woman's power works (basically, a Chinesse finger trap. The more you fight it, the worse off you are). Nicci is unable to grasp this concept for a good 3 pages. Then, it hits her, and she pulls some crazy mumbo jumbo about now understanding what they meant by a "sterile feild" out of her ass. Seriously, it makes no logical sense and I have no idea how it even remotely RELATES to Six's powers. Apparently, I was wrong (*grumblegrumble*), and the sterile field refers to Kahlan, not Richard. Basically, she can not know that she was in love with Richard. He must not tell her until he opens a Box and the magic of Orden has had a chance to counter-act Chainfire. Why? Because emotions contaminate the "sterile feild". Zedd calls shannanigans, and I agree, until he remembers that shit about how Richard and Kahlan are able to be in love in the first place, and that if Richard had known beforehand that there was a way, then it wouldn't have worked. My idea was better... though it did make everyone in the novel seem basically retarded for not understanding. Then again "the harder you struggle, the more it hurts" was lost on one of the most (apparently) intelligent and powerful characters in the whole fucking series, so... you just never know. Anyway, this means we're all kinda screwed, because Richard has already found Kahlan, and they've got a thing going or something. She knows that he knew her cause he's a dumbass and called her name the first time he saw her in "Phantom" and they've been making eyes at each other ever since. According to Nicci, there are 3 ways that things can go if Kahlan learns the truth before Orden can properly restore her memory: 1) She never recovers her memories, but Orden works for everyone else. Problem solved with only a minor casualty. 2) We all die. Self explanitory. 3) Kahlan dies, we all live on to party. Orden reverses Chainfire on the rest of the world, but Richard would have to knowingly kill Kahlan to save humanity. I LIKE THIS OPTION. Chapter 14 is more of the same talkiness. Basically, the Keep is dying (it is literally being a little emo shit and bleeding all over people, wtf) because of the taint in all magic left behind when the Chimes were unleased back in "Soul of the Fire". So now Zedd has to activate the magical back-up generators, which will basically put the Keep in standby mode until further notice. They have to get the fuck out. Zedd and Rikka are splitting for Tamarang (where Richard lost his powers), and Nicci and Cara are taking the Sliph to the People's Palace TO SEE NATHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will then jump back in the Sliph and meet Zedd in Tamarang. WOOT! I hate Chapter 15 with a passion. HATE. HATE. HATE. Why? BECAUSE FUCKING STUPID JENNSEN IS BACK. GODDAMNIT. GODDAMNIT, JENNSEN. FUCK OFF, ALREADY. She randomly shows up for the first time in like, 3 books. She gets captured by the Order, and there's a random Sister of the Dark there who has a copy of The Book of Counted Shadows in her possession. I'm not sure if this lady is important or not, it doesn't say who she is or what she looks like, but one thing os for certain: shit is going DOWN.
