Cold Feet

Reita didn’t like being woken up in the middle of the night. Once he was warm and comfortable and asleep, he did not want to be disturbed.

“Rei,” Miyavi whined softly, shifting in his arms, and Reita tightened his hold and grunted, neither wanting to let Miyavi go nor hear whatever it was that he had to say at the moment. Whatever Miyavi wanted to say could wait until morning.

For a few seconds, Miyavi neither moved nor spoke, and a very relieved Reita began drifting back to sleep.

But then: “Reita,” Miyavi said, more urgently this time, “I have to piss.” He shifted again, his elbow lodging (albeit somewhat gently) somewhere below Reita’s diaphragm.

Reita sighed, thoroughly annoyed at being woken up even though he could sympathize with Miyavi’s situation-the need to pee could occur at any moment, really, and it was a normal process. Logically, Reita knew that his lover couldn’t really be blamed for his sudden need to… answer nature’s call, so to speak.

However, Miyavi could be blamed for the unnecessary - in Reita’s opinion - amount of caffeine that he had ingested earlier that evening, insisting that it would help him ‘get the creative juices flowing’.

At that time, Reita had thought that Miyavi had meant he was working on some lyrics and was tired, and thus needed something to keep him from passing out on the coffee table. His deduction had made sense, because Miyavi had been sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of the coffee table and he had been scribbling furiously on a sheet of paper when he had asked Reita to please get him a cup of coffee.

Reita, being the considerate boyfriend that he was, had gotten Miyavi a cup of coffee without argument, though he had told him not to drink too much for this precise reason. He had then proceeded to head into the bedroom and leave Miyavi to his work, not wanting to interrupt him.

An hour (and five or six cups of coffee, no doubt) later, Miyavi had appeared in the doorway of the bedroom, wearing one of those seductive smirks of his and absolutely nothing else. Reita’s eyes had widened at the unbelievably beautiful sight of a naked Miyavi (and he was always beautiful), and his own lips had curved upwards in amusement.

“Whatever happened to getting your creative juices flowing?” he had asked teasingly, even as he had held his arms out to his lover.

Miyavi had replied, “I did get my creative juices flowing. I just decided that they would be of better use in here, with you.” Which probably meant that he had given up for the night. But hey, what did that matter when he had been offering sex?

“Oh?” Reita had asked, tangling fingers in long, dark hair. “Did you?”

“Oh, yes,” Miyavi had purred, the sweet smell of Hazelnut tickling at Reita’s nostrils. “Allow me to demonstrate.”

And Reita had allowed him to demonstrate, too, until both of them had been too exhausted to move. He hadn’t complained about the coffee then, though he felt he had good reason to complain now, and that’s exactly what he did.

“You drank too much damn coffee,” the blonde mumbled, finally deciding that it would be better to let Miyavi go rather than keep holding onto him and risk an ‘accident’.

Reita released Miyavi, who quickly slid out of bed. He imagined that Miyavi was probably sticking his tongue out at him due to what he’d just said, but his eyes were still closed and he wasn’t about to open them so that he could peer into the darkness and try to discern whether the guitarist actually was sticking his tongue out at him or not.

“Yeah, well, you weren’t complaining earlier,” Miyavi replied somewhat huffily. “I’ll be back in just a second anyway-doesn’t take forever to piss.”

“I wasn’t complaining earlier because we were having really good sex. I told you not to drink a lot of it, because I knew you’d have to pee during the night, and I don’t like being woken up when I’m in the middle of a really good sleep, which usually happens after really good sex.” Okay, so maybe Reita sounded a little whiny and irritated. He figured he was entitled to it.

Miyavi snorted. “I’ll be back before you know it, and then we can cuddle and you’ll be warm and we can go back to sleep.”

“Put your socks on,” Reita told him, curling closer to the warm spot where Miyavi had been lying. “You know I hate cold feet, too.”

He was unaware that his words fell on deaf ears, and he dozed back off even before Miyavi returned from the bathroom.

The shifting of the mattress woke him up as Miyavi rejoined him, which only succeeded in irritating him more. The guitarist had been gone longer than a ‘few’ minutes-he had to have been gone longer than that, because Reita wouldn’t have fallen asleep so quickly.

The feel of cold feet on his legs caused him to jump, having a similar effect to that of an icy bucket of water being poured over his head. Well, he was certainly awake now.

“What the hell?” Reita asked, sounding far more irate than he had earlier, and with good reason. “I told you to put your socks on, Mi--”

“Sorry,” Miyavi interrupted, and he did sound genuinely apologetic. “But it’s snowing, Rei.”

Well, that explained absolutely nothing.

“So?” Reita asked, completely lost as to where his lover was going with this strange non-explanation. And anyway, Reita wasn’t fond of the snow, because in order to have snow, there had to be cold weather, and Reita didn’t like cold weather.

“So I went outside for just a second. It’s pretty.” Miyavi’s voice was soft, but he sounded defensive.

“In your bare feet?” Reita asked, incredulously. “You went outside in your bare feet and then came back to bed to make me freeze half to death?”

“That wasn’t my intention, no,” Miyavi answered. “I know you don’t really like snow, but I do. I think we should go outside and enjoy it properly in the morning, just you and me~.” Reita didn’t need to see his face to know that he was grinning.

Reita sat up straighter in bed, propping himself up on his elbows. “You think I should humor you after you woke me up like that?”

“Yes,” Miyavi replied, moving closer, curling against Reita’s side. Oh no. That wasn’t a good thing-that tone of voice was one that the bassist had difficulty resisting.

Okay… so, Reita never resisted, in truth.

“Miyavi,” Reita began, clinging desperately to the irritation at being woken up multiple times, “you are--”

“Rei.”

Chilly, though gentle, hands cupped his cheeks, and then Miyavi’s lips pressed against his own. A wet, teasing tongue tickled the seam of his lips, making a silent request that Reita granted with barely a hint of hesitation.

As they kissed, Reita felt the warmth spread from his lips to his toes, and it wasn’t a physical warmth-or, at least, not purely physical. It was a deeper warmth. It always was, with Miyavi.

Suddenly, being woken up (twice) didn’t seem to matter, cold feet didn’t seem so bad after all, and going out in the snow in the morning seemed at least somewhat tolerable.

Their lips eventually parted, and Reita whispered Miyavi’s name, arms winding around him once more, pulling him closer.

“Does this mean that you’ll come out with me in the morning~?” Miyavi asked.

Reita tried to sound annoyed, even though he knew he would fail: “Fine. Now shut up and go back to sleep.”

They drifted back to sleep together, arms and legs intertwined, with no more interruptions and no further complaints of cold feet.

The cuteness of Miyavi never fails. ^_^ I honestly don’t think Reita minds too much.
